Hahaha...stay young buddy. To your original point though...I’m 45 and still swing it well but have lost a few mph. It’s tough...I feel I’m in between flexes now and finding what feels good is harder than say 10 years ago.

Glad you’re back to normal for a few more years.

I started playing golf at 45. Now at 58 I am healthy and playing my best golf ever, so I don't feel old. But I do have to come to terms with the fact that my peak althletic potential is probably behind me, and will never coincide with my peak golf ability, which I hope is still to come. Wish I had started younger.

6 months past 40, feet breaking down (which leads to all other things), way over weight and can still get past 110 without much effort. I think you're just looking for another reason to buy MORE clubs...

I'll be 72 in September and still carry my bag about 50% of the time. I draw the line when it gets over 85* though. I've been playing mostly from our club's '_plum_' tees which are about 5,850 yards (white tees are 6,279) and just yesterday had the club pro officially make those my default in the handicap computer. Index is currently and 9.1! It was not an easy decision for me - but time marches on. At least I can reach most of the par 4's now and I've 5 rounds this month in the 70's. So, yes, I'm feeling blessed and having fun B)

Ugh, getting old sucks. I wake up the day after a range session, and my finger joints are sore. Can we reminisce real quick on we all used to be able to swing as hard as we wanted?! I think I need to see a chiropractor just thinking about it.

At 64, I have all graphite shafts in my bag except in my 58* wedge. That has helped my soreness, as well as my distance. Once I got used to the different feel & timing, all got better and I'm now addicted to graphite and more forgiving heads.

I get on a launch monitor once in a while to see my numbers, and usually find that I don't launch it nearly high enough with all clubs. With more stretching and focus on different mechanics, I can get the trajectory higher.

I'm 71 and didn't start playing golf till I was 67, so "old" is a relative thing. Played 18 on Saturday and shot an 82. Not my lowest, but I felt good about the way I played and had fun chatting with my playing partners. Oh, and the heat index when we finished at noon was 105, so it was steamy to say the least. And... to make matters worse, I've got a hip that needs to be replaced (this winter - don't want to lose any golf time), a knee that gets a little sore, and a back that has a bulging disc that needs to get fixed. I'll take care of all the broken parts after golf season and put in some rehab and be back in the spring ready for my best golf ever. Attitude goes a long way towards making golf fun and making improvements in your skill set.

I have lost 15 mph ball speed and about 10 mph swing speed between age 49 and 59. 10 years ago I had only played with someone consistently longer than me a few times in my life. Now it is commonplace. This year I have played my final state Am qualifier. 7100 + course at sea level playing with college kids beat the denial right out of me. It doesn’t help that as I have aged, my putting is much worse and I have not gotten wiser,

I'm 45 with a back like Tiger. Luckily I don't have nearly the same mileage he has, but I'm very thankful for the invention of hybrids and lighter shafts.

If only I could've been born with any of his other natural abilities.

I resemble that comment ;-)

My 17 year old son is now an inch taller than me (6'3) and is a gym rat - and he has also started driving neck and neck with me...ah, to be young and flexible. I've found that between hockey, rugby, and several attempts to kills myself on ski-doos and dirt bikes, passing 40 has led to a pretty precipitous drop in back stability. How do I know I'm getting old - I actually prefer teeing up a hybrid than the big dog...almost. ;-)

I hit my drives 240 and am 66 yrs old which is quite a bit better than most my age. Switched to R flex around 60 and then to yellow balls a year ago and I still can't see my drives past much more than 200 yards, but it helps seeing them in the grass. Whatever, golf is still lots of fun. We've had about 8 course closures in the San Diego area in the past 10 years, but play seems to be picking up for those that are left. Maybe the downward trend has bottomed out.

I am another one turning 40 this year, very soon.

The clubs are ok, it’s more carrying my bag. I always carry, and have done 36 a few times this year. Only with a moon bag. It takes nearly 3 days to get over it now.

I did this year. My adjustments were to go slightly lighter iron shafts (s300 to kbs120s+), and somewhat larger and more forgiving iron and wedge heads (cobra s3 pro to Callaway 19 Apex, vokey to yururi wedges). Really should have done this a couple years ago, took me what while to wake up and realize where I was losing strokes. My tee ball and fairway/hybrid are still strong points, but my approach shots were costing me. Basically I've decided to de-emphasize shot shaping and finesse around greens, and just going with stock shots.

45 and starting to look into graphite in my irons for thumb/wrist pain and lighter overall weight to help as well. Lost a few mph the past few years so might help there as well. Can’t complain though...I don’t put nearly what I should into my game but still get it around ok and shoot under par more times than not. I hope I never reach my quota for putts made...my putter has aged well with me. I gotta start working at it more...the little guy in my avatar is gonna be trying to beat the old man before I know it.

58 years young. Hip replacement at 51, Shoulder replacement last summer. Built set with graphite. Had been going that direction already. Dropped from a 5.8 to 10.7-- headed back downward as relearning my swing without arthritic right shoulder has been FUN. I play the white tee's now and on some courses the senior/reg combo tees. Graphite is really a great option and has improved my iron play. Just need to play MORE now .

For the longest time, I loved carrying my bag, but that hasn't been for some time. Still, walk 18 but with a pushcart when conditions and course allow it. Even that hasn't been too often since many of the SOCA courses don't allow walking during prime time. Anyhow, I can relate to the recovery time. My recovery gets off-set by gym visits and cycling. If I play a challenging 18 and score well, then go out to dinner and party a bit, that costs me least a day and a half. lol
