Playing 36 in Dallas next Tuesday ( 02/05 ), I am a clubcorp member, but from out of state.....

Hello,

 

Looking for some easy and quick insight.

 

Heading to Dallas for work next week and will take an extra day and play 36 with a buddy.

 

I am a clubcorp member, he is a guest. My clubcorp membership came with my home course, and I haven't even used it yet. We will play 36, weather permitting.

 

Any current course updates or suggestions?

 

I was looking at TPC Craig Ranch for 18, and then 18 nearby. Or would we be better off just heading to like Stonebridge Ranch and playing 36?

I would recommend StoneBriar in Frisco and Craig ranch. If you end up playing Stonebridge do the dye course. I'm a member at Stonebridge and the hills course is nothing special. The dye course is pretty fun but hard so bring extra golf balls. I love dye courses but they all feel the same. Lots of water. Hope that helps a little and have fun.

 

Also StoneBriar has two courses as well. If given the option I would play the country club side. Cheers

Just an FYI about Craig Ranch. I played it about a 6 weeks ago and the greens were not in their usual condition.

Also just a heads up, if the course has two course one is closed Monday and the other is closed Tuesday so I would check on that. I know at Stonebridge the dye is open on Tuesday. Not sure how StoneBriar does it.

My understanding is you can NOT play TPC Craig Ranch. It was just acquired by CC and they are not doing any reciprocal for at least the first year. If you find otherwise please let me know.

 

Stonebriar has 2 very, very different courses and both are open Tue-Sun. Fazio is nearing a complete bunker renovation so the last couple holes may not have playable bunkers.

I am headed down in March and will be in Grapevine. You just confirmed Las Colinas for me!

Las Colinas is a fun track with some elevation changes. Stonebridge ranch dye course is the best architectural course of all the CC courses in DFW. Stonebriar is solid.

ANY recs, or pros and cons if I just play 36 at some other public courses around Dallas?

 

I haven't found two CC courses I am in love with.

 

I am thinking I may just stay in the NE Dallas ( Plano/Frisco ) area and play a couple 18's out there.

 

Any recommendations? Or tell me why thats crazy!

Old American if you don't want to play Stonebriar.

 

FWIW, Stonebriar and Glen Eagles are the most expensive CC courses in the DFW area.

Have your pro call Trinity Forest. They will probably host you. It’s a new C&C that hosts the Byron Nelson. Part of their course was funded by public money so they have to give a certain amount of rounds away to non-members.

 

Cowboys is a great public option. Texas Rangers might be open after a significant reno... I haven’t visited yet so I can’t comment on the quality.

 

I’ve only played Las Colinas once but all I remember were all the highways visible from every hole. Not my thing...

you must be thinking of a different course in Las Colinas because Las Colinas CC runs out towards 114 on the 4th hole, away from it on the 5th and that’s the only time you’re near or can even see a freeway.

Agreed on LCCC - Thinking about TPC LC - you see 114 on the back 9 once but on the front you have 2 holes where the side street gets a bit busy/noisy, maybe that is the course
