Srixon Z Forged

actually a little bit longer heel to toe in my opinion than the 45 series. Similar toe shape which is a good thing as they went rounded in the 65 series and it was a bit of a weird look. Still amazing feel and surprising forgiveness for a true blade. Great irons and I personally think an upgrade over the 945 and 965's

Love them. Surprisingly forgiving for a blade and feel great. I think there's less hype because they were released later than the 585/785 and a lot of the players who might play them ended up just going with the 785s I bet. But they're fantastic clubs. Can't really compare them to the 945s/965s but I find them just as good or better than my MP-5/MP-25 combo I had before. Love the turf interaction over Mizuno and the ball just seems to jump off the face on the Srixons in a way it didn't with the Mizunos (though much of that is probably due to a fairly significant shaft change).

I am currently gaming your old Mizuno combo setup and planning to move to Srixons. I will attend a demo/fitting in a couple of weeks. I am open to whatever comes out but as a starting point thinking to combo 585s/785s as I thought that 585s would provide similar or even more forgiveness than MP25s and 785s would be similar to MP5s in terms of feel and performance and probably a bit more forgiving but seeing the route you have taken got me by surprised. I am very courious now as how 585/785/Zforgeds compare to MP25/5s so any feedback would be much appreciate it

I think the Z-Forged and MP-5 are very similar and so are the Z785 and MP-25. The 585 are really more on the border of a game improvement and player's distance club. If I had to compare it to an MP it's probably closest to the MP-H5 or MP-H4 but probably more closely resembles some JPX clubs like the Hot Metal/Pro but forged. I also liked that the Z-Forged were closer to the MP-5/25 specs (they're only 1º stronger instead of 2º for most of the 785s though that's easily adjusted through bending). I'd say the MP-5 and Z-Forged both feel amazing and very close. Not sure if I could pick a winner on feel between those two yet but I think the Z785 feels better than the MP-25 for sure though.

Thanks a lot. The Zforged were not in my radar but now they will be in the mix. I think MP5s are one of the most forgiving Mizuno blades/musclebacks ever so if Zforged are similar in that regard definitely worth to try even though I am looking for a bit more forgiveness in my set overall.

Well I can say they are more forgiving as my mp15 but butter with intoxicating sweet spot and they are long crazy because I wanted to love the mp18 this much

I am currently going back and forth between the Z945 combo and the Mizuno MMC. I will comment on the MP25 vs Srixon 7xx series. IMO the MP25 is more harsh (not as soft) than the Srixon 7xx or 9xx series. Just one opinion, but the MP25 was my least favorite iron to have played in the last 2 years and I tried way too many. If you usually hit the face of your irons, then I believe you would enjoy a combo like I play:

Z945 from 5i to PW

U65 3i and 4i

Regardless if my lower bag has the Z945 or Mizuno MMC, the top will have the U65 3i and 4i. They honestly amaze me with the height, distance, and feel they provide with even a decent swing. I have hit more quality shots with them from 190yds to 210yds than I have ever hit from that distance (even 40 years ago when I played at a much lower HC). AND, they are butter as much as any club I have ever hit. The MMC or Z945 both feel SO good with Recoil shafts but the U65 with the harsher Steelfiber feels even better. Can't go wrong with those at the top end of any iron set.

I agree MP25s are not the best Mizuno irons ever made. Probably the worst I have played (lot of MPs) in terms of feeling and not as forgiving as expected (that was the tradeoff I was willing to accept). In fact I regreted from the second round not to have gone all MP5s. Regarding Srixon I hit the 45s extensively and the 65s as well but not that much. For me 545/745s performed much better than 565/765s and I liked its shape more. Noted your comment on U65s and will definetely try their new version. Thanks

I tried the 565/765s in 2017, but started having elbow problems, probably because of the shafts (tried modus 120X, didn't like them anyway, shaft was just not for me). I moved to graphite with Ping i200w, then ended up finding a virtually mint set of 945s for $240, had them reshafted with Recoil 95 proto F5s, and have really liked them. I must say, for a blade, they are very, very forgiving. The 765s were stupid easy to hit/forgiving (had a 4-5 iron in the 565, which were even more so), but I wasn't as crazy about the rounded toe. The 945s are just about perfect to my eye, and just are butter on decent strikes. The Z forged are just as good looking, but they look a little more "bladey" in the forgiveness area, but I have not hit them. Glad to hear people say they are just as good as the 945s in that department. The 785s to me looked like they fixed the small things I didn't like about the 765s, and I've been dreaming of a mixed set of Z forged/785s myself recently. If I had the cash laying around, I think I would just get a set, but my irons are still in great shape, no real need to move on from that perspective....

Thoughts on forgiveness/feel/differences between the two? Would you go combo or straight Z?

the forgiveness is typical with a blade -- however the turf interaction was awesome b/c of the slight V sole. the feel was really really good - less clicky than a titleist MB, very similar to a Mizuno. i would still do a 785/blade combo b/c of the bit of forgiveness in the long irons. that's just me tho.
