Big money scrambles?

Does anyone know of any events in the mid-atlantic area that are basically 4 man scrambles for decent prizes? I've played in a bunch of charity scrambles, local am events and stuff, but came across some events in the mid-west that sound like fun for decent ams with 3-4K in winning team payouts. Thought it might be fun.

I’m sorry, I know this comment is not helpful, but I play lots of scrambles for fun and to support good causes. Do I believe that the winning team actually shot 22 under? Not really, but since they won a bag of chips I also don’t really care. If we’re playing for 3k (and presumably I’m contributing to that pot) that’s different. Who protects the field in a 4-man scramble?

I completely agree with your sentiments about cheating, and 8somes or a marker would certainly work. I was just wondering, because if I google "big money scrambles" I can find a bunch of them in Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, etc, but nothing around here. I wonder how they protect the field in those, because I agree, cheating is very easy when no one else is looking. That being said, in all of the charity scrambles I've played in my team is usually made up of single digits (3-8 or so) and we come in close to the top, but also miss a buuuunch of putts between 10-15 feet. If we got a couple hot putters we would come in with legit high 50's scores and people would probably accuse us of cheating.

It's more of an interest because I see they exist in the mid-west and aren't very expensive (~$100 per guy), so obviously they aren't charity fundraisers. I wonder if a course around here would do something like that with and allow 6somes (2x3man teams) to go out to discourage pencil whipping

there's all sorts of them in the Toronto area in the Fall, mostly 8 somes. Sometimes a marker. A few 2 day events but mostly 18 holes

I think our team's biggest payout was 5800 for winning and a 1200 skin

We don't do them anymore. Too old for the cold it seems. And my steam was STACKED. Three partners all +3 or better

So maybe I need to hang out on super secret message boards to find out about them in my area, or know the right people I guess.

There are plenty of these tournaments in the Georgia, Alabama, and Florida area. Most of them have a $60k to $80k pot in the calcutta, splitting it between two days. The format is usually 4 man scramble, blind draw, with 8-somes or markers. They pay four or five places each day. Plenty of side games and matches after the Saturday round too.

Some courses have them listed on their web sites or send an email on them. Such as this one near the Ohio/PA border in Brookfield, Ohio. I get an email from the course every year about it. I've never played this event.
