PGA section ProAm's???

Anyone have experience playing PGA section ProAms? It seems like a good way to get out on some really nice private courses in your area at a decent price. For example most of the ones in my area are about 520 bucks for a foursome with carts.(I'm assuming that the Pro doesn't pay, is this correct?).

Are they a fun time? Run well?

I'm not a member of a club, so don't really have a "local pro" to play with or reach out to. Guess I can ask the pro at the course I play my mens league at. Do you now if you've got to be a member at the club the pro is associated with?

Talk to the local pro at your club. They will help point you in the right direction.

I've played quite a few in the Dixie Section and Tennessee section.

All the ones I played in, you tee off with your foursome, turn in your card, and you won't find out until later that day or the next day if you won anything. Usually a gift certificate. Unless you want to wait around all day for the groups to come it. Your paired up with via the computer.

But like you said, its a great way to play some really nice courses for cheap. There isn't really a "tournament" feel to them. At least in my experience.
