I'm gettin' excited! Our annual Super Bowl trip is coming up and it's possible our 49ers could be in it. We go in a big group every year, this'll be my 5th trip. We play Bandon Crossings on Friday, then play all 4 courses at the resort. I try to get early tee times so we can do the replay. We've played in all kinds of weather, from beautiful short sleeve weather to stuff like last year where when we teed off at Old Mac this stuff was coming down called 'grapple' I think. Couple of years ago it was big south winds which made it interesting. Seems like even when the weather is crappy at the start it usually gets better as the day goes on..at least that's been my experience. In '18 a buddy and I even drove down to Port Orford after our round at Trails and went surfing down there, then got back up to the resort and other friends had the BBQ going in the parking lot with fresh out of the Coquille River steelhead going...that was definitely the most perfect day I've ever had up there! Love that place!

I'll be there end of Feb/early March. Played yesterday in 40* and wet weather. I'm gonna need to work on my swing religiously till the trip lol.

i think that is an issue for most people their first time. They go there expecting to shoot these awesome scores. However, once you get there you realize it’s about the experience and just enjoying yourself.

 

I have had some rounds there where my swing is horrible but you just forget about it, enjoy and take it all in.

Yes sir! First trip for me and my buddy. I'm always a little nervous of playing well when paired up with other golfers because I can play relatively well, but can also look like a complete buffoon out there lol. At the end of the day, having fun and making some good memories is what it's all about.

Since I can't remember which thread it was asked in, I'll weigh in on a couple topics here in the random thread.

-the cash box for donations to play Shorty's is now in the pavilion at the practice center.

-regarding pull carts/push carts/carrying, I just spent 4 days at Bandon with my clicgear, and it worked just as well as the ricksha's. Rolled fine, and I like it better than pulling and having to be careful of dragging. That's gonna be my go to from now on. The only areas the clicgear was a pain was the same ones the ricksha struggles, such as the path on Pacific from 13 green to 14 tee.

Probability is very high, especially for the first tee times. Afternoons/second rounds would be hit or miss.

 

The good news is that they'll be pairing you with two other golf nerds.

Finally booked my flights to Eugene, through Seattle. Have an almost 6 hour layover on the way back, pretty excited to actually see Seattle for the first time. Plan is to take an Uber straight into the city. Wont have any luggage so not worried about dealing with that and also have Clear and PreChek, so not terribly worried about security on the backend.

Take the Link light rail from Sea-Tac to downtown (and back). Depending on the time of day, the traffic could cost you almost an hour. And it's only about $3 and a lot more predictable.

Thanks, cost is not something I'm worried about moreseo saving time - so I will check the uber app when I get there, although at 10a on a Sunday I'm not too worried about it yet - pending the Seahawks home schedule release. My friend that lives in Seattle said that the lite rail is great but it will be an hour between walking to the station from the terminal, hitting the train at the right time and then taking the train into town.

I have not - but if you go in Nov time frame you can go fishing for Steelhead in the river nearby. I do want to fish for steelhead sometime, so I may add some golf in at the same time.

I"m interested in the fishing topic. I have a, avid fisherman friend who we love to play golf with, he's not as into it as us, so often we'll do hybrid trips.

Just released a Chrome Lake Double for February 27-March 1, 2020 if anyone is looking for a last minute trip. Should be the only one available. We had someone drop out of our group and made the change before 30 days out. Seemed to be a fair amount of times left, especially for a single, or even 2 sum.

for the fishing people. Head a little over an hour south to Gold Beach. They have quite a few fishing guides down there but it is on the Rogue River. I have family that goes down every year and the 4 that go all catch their limit 3 days straight and they average a little over 20 lbs per. Might be a bit different now as I heard the runs have been poor the last couple years.

Will be there 2/15-2/17. We go every President’s Day weekend with a large group led by the head pro from Stone Creek. Most was 96 but it’s been trending down as some got too old to go. Still over 70 this year I bet.

 

Time to start prepping the equipment and rain gear!
