Bandon Brewing sells pizza by the slice pretty much at all times, at least when I've been there. We popped in for a late-afternoon beer and a slice a couple of times after rounds before heading home and making dinner. (We rent a house down there instead of staying on property.) Not a bad option if you want to try it out first without committing to a full pie, or test for a dinner later in the trip. The pizza is great after a day of walking, and the beer isn't bad.

Hopefully this is random...our group of 8 is flying into Coos Bay July 4, 2020 and probably staying at the casino that night. We are not staying at BD until the night of July 5. If we take the shuttle to/from CB....what do we do with all our luggage while we play July 5?

Leave it at the caddie shack at Bandon or in the Bandon Reception. No issues.

I always prefer to rent a house on golf trips. But Bandon charges an extra $100 per round for green fees if you stay offsite, so that pretty much killed the house option.

We were evaluating this as an option: http://www.thebandonmanor.com/. The guy I was talking to (believe his name was Tony but could be way off) stated that their guests typically get resort rates as Bandon doesn't have a similar option. He stated that Bandon considers them "complimentary" and not "competitive." Worth looking into if you prefer the house. We ultimately decided being able to walk downstairs to the breakfast/first tee was the bigger pro.

It was unbelievable...what did you all end playing? And if you were an hour ahead on Sunday, were you off at 730 by any chance? We played with a two-some on Saturday on Pacific that was going off at 7:30 on Sunday...wondering if it was you we played with?

We got Pacific, Trails, and 9 on Bandon in on Saturday. Pacific and Old Mac on Sunday.

We flew around the golf course as a 2 some on Trails and Old Mac to be able to get those in.

I got in on Wednesday with 1 other guy ahead of our group of 16. We did the range and Punchbowl in glorious sunshine unlike any I'd seen there before this weekend. We were offsite until Friday so we did Bandon Crossings Thursday. Our group arrived Friday morning and we did Trails Friday, Bandon Dunes at 8 Saturday morning with Preserve in the afternoon, then Pacific at 8 Sunday and Old Mac after. We finished about 30 minutes before sundown on Mac. 2 of our groups did the quick loop on Old Mac which I think skips 4 holes or so and played as 8 in so you might have seen them. Trails Friday was cloudy and misty/foggy at times, but still a great day, but nothing in comparison to the grand sunshine of the weekend. Not in my wildest dreams could I have imagined playing in full sunshine and light winds. Bandon Dunes on Saturday was gorgeous, to the point that I almost got too hot because I only packed one short sleeve shirt and no shorts. To follow that up we had Pacific Sunday morning, and early on it looked like it might be a grey day, but we were quickly proved wrong. After teeing off in some strong fog on 1 where you could hardly see your tee shot, the skies quickly cleared up and by the time we hit the oceanside 4th hole we had full sunshine and a great view of the coast. Was riding high after going birdie, birdie, birdie on holes 3-5. It's amazing what you can see on those 2 courses when the skies are clear. By the time we hit Old Mac the light fog started to roll in, creating an awesome calm, quiet and eerie scene for that course, unlike much I've played in before. The Sunday rounds broke us so we cancelled our Monday Bandon Dunes time and just took our time and relaxed Monday morning only to have the fog roll in and our flight out of North Bend cancelled, with not another until Wednesday. So I drove through rain and winds on winding roads to Eugene to catch an overnight flight back home to Chicago. It was exhausting but so worth it. If that was the only weather issue of the weekend I'm good with it. Sitting back at my desk right now it's hard to believe it's over already, but it was such a great weekend. Unlike my first trip I had so much time to experience everything and just soak it all in. It was an experience I'll never forget, and cannot wait to do again. I'll try to pick out some pics later.

Awesome trip and epic write up.

Sounds like you were with Matt Scheelar's group. If you were playing with his group on Sunday on Pacific, I was the one who came over from the 4th fairway when you all were on 12 to say hi.

The fog on Old Mac was amazing, we saw your 8-some on the 16th tee when we were teeing off on 8. We teed off at 2:20 or so and my buddy and I were able to finish. Looking back from the 16th tee box across OM with the fog was just something else. Really a cool moment, especially for my buddy who hadn't played it.

We couldn't believe the weekend either, on Saturday we were commenting on how we were both hot and could be walking around in tee shirts and shorts. Just an incredible setting with no rain, wind, or fog. Never happens in November it seems but we got lucky this year!

It sounds like you had an unbelievable time and the weather only added to it!

My in laws live in Roseburg so that's the route I've always taken. It pretty easy drive. There's also a shortcut to take out of Coquille (Beaver Hill Rd) that drops you onto 101 so you don't have to go through the town of Bandon. It's not bad but like any 2 lane road, it's all dependent on who you get stuck behind in between passing lanes.

I've never done it, but I think it's a great idea. I'd try to memorize the pin locations, conditions, shots played, etc.....and see if that info helped me score better in round two. It would also be nice to grab a quick bite and head back out without having to go anywhere. Assuming you like Pacific, I don't see a problem.

Thanks all, I am going to try the replay as scheduled. This should work well and I may try the gold tees and use my utility 2 iron on most tee shots. Pacific is currently my favorite but that seems to change with every trip I make to this place.

As an aside, spud3, I've been following your thread on your impromptu trip this week, bravo on tackling those conditions. Hope you post an update on how yesterday went.

I've heard both. I know the rickshaw carts at the resort with the big wheels do fine on the rougher terrain and sand. I haven't taken my clicgear there but have seen a lot of clicgears and SM speedcarts and never seen anyone struggling, except on some of the tight paths. I've seen opinions from people I trust saying don't use the three wheel and the three wheel is fine.

So I guess bring a push cart babe and it isn't your problem.

I owned a original Rickshaw for 15+ years and it was great ( bringing to my private club from Canada where I purchased it was another story) I'm not sure how my current SM 3 wheeler wouldn't do as well @ Bandon, is it worst in rain & wind or is it a path issue?

I carried when I was there 10 years ago, I'm planning on using my 3 wheeler come this Feb, please advise guy

Thx

I've seen some folks struggle with both types of carts, especially in the wind. They have smoothed out a lot of the places on the trails between holes or are using a smaller grade of gravel/bark, so SM's and CG's wheels are, for the most part, fine.

I like the Riksha, now that I have a little attachment for carrying a water bottle and rangefinder. It's one less thing I need to bring/setup.

"take that, you miserable little white swine!"

On the Rickshaw versus 3 wheel decision, one thing to consider is rolling over the green. With the rickshaw I've always had the starter mention you can just roll it over the green. I've had starters and marshalls say both yes and no for 3 wheelers rolling over the green. (I have no idea what the distinction is.)

If you're driving to Bandon and have room in the car, bring your 3 wheeler and try it. One round will easily tell you what way you want to go. If you don't have space in the car, you aren't gonna lose much using the resort carts.

I have taken my clicgear 3 times now and been fine. Probably can list out the trouble spots - any of the sandy paths, & up the hill on 13 of Trails are the pains. Pac is the most 'troublesome' with bark, sand, roots, small paths, etc.

What I did notice is that in the heavier winds, the clicgear felt like it had more resistance than the rik but fell over less.
