Who's Everyone Got for the PGA?

Recommended Posts

I want Tiger to win but in the likleyhood he doesn't, I'm placing my money elsewhere. My top 2 are Kopeka and Rahm. BK for obvious reasons, and Rahm for his length and accuracy off the tee. They're both playing well right now and they seem like the clear favorites. If Mac can get a hot putter, I'll have a couple new drivers to write home about when TMAG/Dick's delivers on their deal.

Who are you picking?

Cobra Radspeed BT 13.5*(-1 setting) - OG Grafalloy Blue S, 41.75"

Wilson D9 4-GW (2* weak) KBS Max-R (-.5")

Didn't Xander play like garbage at the RBC? I was thinking he might be a big payday, but too risky.

Rory shoots anywhere from -1 to +1 in round one.

It has to be someone with thick skin to deal with the ******* New York crowds for 4 days. The non-US players will be on the wrong end of the crowd wrath.

Tony Finau is my choice.

I like it. It never really crossed my mind how the Euros might fare with NYC's *finest* in attendance. I'd love a Woods-Rahm Saturday pairing, I think it could escalate into JR actually turning a shade of green, tearing his shirt off as he charges a boozy patron. F-bombs and club slams abound.... "Jon Rahm SMASH!!!!"

I don't really like Tiger's chances at this venue. People should stop bringing up the "he has won here before" narrative. He would've won anywhere in 2002.

Just look at this beast.

Notice how tight the fairways are and how missing it puts you in unplayable situations? Tiger at the Masters wildly missed the fairways on 11 and 14 in half of his attempts, yet shot -3 for the week in those two holes. Not to mention the wild misses at 13 and 2. Misses like that this week guarantees you bogeys or worse. I would be shocked if he contends, but I do think he will fight and grind out some decent scores on his way to a top 30 finish. I like his chances at Pebble a lot more where he'll be able to employ a lot more strategy and irons off the tee.

As for the winner, it will be the best driver of the golf ball (long and straight). Who are: DJ, Rory, Brooks, Rahm...maybe Bubba, Finau and Bryson too.

I think he plays conservatively and avoids alot of the real trouble. He started badly in 09 but slowly plotted into a back door top 10 in US Open conditions.I doubt the rough is as thick as it was in 02 and 09 so its not a big deal. Honestly the only concern IMO would be coming out a little flat on thursday because of the emotional roller coaster he just went through and hes a little rusty mentally other than that i believe he plays well.Lets not forget the field is twice as big so the draw will really matter if it rains. this applies to all the contenders. I can still remember mike weir and ricky barnes lighting it up in 09 the first couple of days. this course can produce any kind of winner

I haven't actually put any money on Rahm yet, but I'm seriously doubting my choice now. Does anybody feel like the crowds are going to treat him like c-r-a-p? He's already a pretty divisive player in mild audience discussion, I cannot imagine a scenario in which the New Yorkers make his time any easier.

Do you guys/gals think the venue puts all Euros, especially Rahm, Poulter, Sergio, and other 'bad guys', in a serious *no-win* situation? Is there anyone of them that can rise above it and not let it be a factor? Molinari is a pretty likeable guy, but of the other legitimate Euro contenders I listed, will the crowd keep them from winning at BP?

Bubba Watson. T18 in the 2009 US Open. Coming off a strong 67-67 weekend at the Masters. Playing well this year but hasn't got the putter going enough to win. Its a matter of time. He'll have plenty of room to shape it off the tee.

Yep. Have that same feeling. Not a win. But some noise. Tiger takes it. Brooks equals T-21. ( not 20 ).

Would love to see it. I enjoy watching the guy. Reminds me of Fleetwood from several years ago. Ballstriker yet to see the fruits. But it will come.

I think the euro guys with some routine have got their fair shares of Babba Boeys over the years at RC, Honda Phoenix and some other places to get some resistance. Shinnecock wasnt all that bad, was it? Maybe that is more remote from NYC.

We have a big pool with an A group, B group then 3 of the rest of the field. My thoughts are distance off the tee and nerves in majors... DJ, JT, Fleetwood, Kiz, and Schauffele are my 5. It's scored as 4 of 5 best score in relation to par, no bonus for winner. I got 3rd in the Masters a few years ago and it paid 375 or so.
