Child Set, Interesting

My kid has got a set that is built for a 8-9 year old, she's only 4, so the clubs are slightly long for her. Long story short, I grab her driver that's about 8 iron length for me and whippy as all heck, and proceed to hit bombs with it. Granted, it was outside and no way of gauging distance, but this Dunlop "toy" was really eye opening.

I think that's great. You can have some fun with it, and hopefully your daughter will some looong shots and fall in love with the game. Exciting bombs could be what it takes for her to retain interest.

We do this all the time: rent a set of child's clubs and take turns hitting them on each hole. Whippy as all heck, but it really makes you pay attention on the transition.

I think I average 220 or 230 with the child's driver - it's a bomber!

Weird though, because I tend to slice or fade softer shafts, and this one was no exception. I had to really focus to hit the ball with little curve, absolutely opposite convention. I love how softer shafts feel in transition, can really feel them "kicking". Makes my swing feel like a better player than I am.

Give me three years and I'll take you up on that. My first is due in early August and I intend to take the carrier on the cart next season.

Mine, at least, isn't super interested in the idea of golf just yet. I really don't want to push it on her, just let her be around me while I putt, take her in the cart sometimes to ride along, and just be *around* the game. If she takes a real interest in it, I'll start helping her with instruction, but absolutely not until then. As for now, it's more fun for her to do other things, and I'm totally ok with that. The other night she hit maybe 4 balls with help from me and a few on her own, then contentedly went off to the side to play in a dirt pile. Last thing I want is for my kid to hate the game, or even worse me, for forcing it on her. I'm not about to be that selfish dad that makes their kid play.

If your little one has any devices take them to the PGASS or any place with a decent bay and let her have at it. For the longest time my daughter thought the bay was powered by magic.
