Any of your friends or family members being evacuated?

Having lived in that area for some time, so many are being evac'ed to qualcomm and to local high schools. I feel for those people.

Well it is serious enough that Callaway production and Corporate Headquarters have been evacuated. The company is "closed" untill it is over.

Also serious enough that TaylorMade is closed down as well. I just called to check the specs on a club.

Where would those people go for shelter? I understand that those companies are located in the Carlsbad area? I phoned friends and, they're all temporarily off work because businesses are closed also in the San Diego area.

When I lived down there my condo in SeaPoint (La Costa area of Carlsbad) almost burned down. The palm trees of my balcony and ones in front of the complex were blackened by the heat of the nearby flames. If the hole complex wasn't stucco with tile roofs the whole place would have probably gone up.

This was the in late 97 - early 98, with a fire that stated 20 miles south of there and was purposely not responded to immediately for reasons (I think wind) that I can't fully recall. In any event it burned all the way to Encinitas and Carlsbad in an hour or two.

I think San Diego County has some serious fuel management issues they need to address as this seems to happen every 4 or 5 years. But this one is really the big Kahuna. Must be miserable for those folks. I remember staying at a friends in San Marcos calling my answering machine ever hour or so to see if it had melted (nobody has time or info to tell you anything while it is going on).
