Why does the media need to hold Koepka accountable for finishing 65th? In what way should they do it?

Well, when I say accountable.....I mean not so long ago Brooks was complaining about not being respected by the media and that If another player had done what he has done in last two years the media would be fawning all over them. Careful what you ask for......if you're #1 in the world, it should be questioned when you finish 65th or miss a cut in a soft field tournament. (Just like every other #1) It's not that hard to understand. Let me know if you need more help.

He's won 4 of the last 9 Majors with 2 2nd place finishes thrown in. Exactly what are they supposed to hold him accountable to? It's obvious that he uses other tournaments prepare himself for the Majors... and he's done it pretty successfully. His plan obviously isn't your plan but it appears to be working pretty well for him.

Where did I equate him to Tiger Woods? I simply said if another #1 player in the world placed 65th in a soft field tournament, that would have led Golf Central and the evening news. Now if you want to disagree with that go right ahead but do not misread my post then proceed to tell me what nobody else is doing. Now try again!

I don't totally buy that , if that were the case and he was just looking for prep what better way than by being overseas right now furthermore how would not being in contention prepare you better than being in contention.

No questions he has been successful in the majors but I don't totally buy that it's because he is doing prep the rest of the time. After the open is done this year, does he go right into Masters prep?

I agree with every thing you said, right up to the sarcastic, His plan isn't your plan part......I have no plan for BK. I could care less about his on or off the golf course activities. While his results speak or it self, that has never stopped the media from asking dumb ars questions like " How come you cant win a regular tournament"...…. Over and over again. That's what they normally do....

And the Media blindly accepts that B.S. Can't imagine the Sponsors are happy about anyone using their tournament as practice ...

Brooks just doesn't have much of a personality when it is all set and done(in the golf world). He just wants to play golf and win majors. I don't think he is too concerned with a tournament sponsor being upset "using their tournament for practice". He plays the necessary amount of tournaments by obligations and those ones are around majors to get "hot". I think he just wants the media to acknowledge he isn't a one hit wonder and give him respect in that aspect. My issue with him lately is he wants to be acknowledged in the media but when they want to talk to him, he just shuns them essentially. He's not very interesting for them to promote. Guy just shows up and plays to win. As far as him finishing 65th in a soft field, it is nothing new for him. Guy has won a single non major tournament, maybe two. He is a "prize fighter". People don't talk about how many times Dustin, Rory, Adam Scott and other big names won, they care about the majors because people want to have the most. It is like any sport. Majority of the time your career is based on how many titles/majors you win.

Let's say the OP is correct in his statement. Is that Brooks fault? Also, why (honest ??) does the media need to hold him accountable, and to what standard?

I never said that anything is Brooks fault, I did say that the media was giving him a pass for his poor record in regular tournaments. People seem to forget that recently Brooks made a big deal of his lack of respect and not being noticed by the media or his back to back major titles. Now, as the #1 player in the world you should get scrutinized more and your whole record should be examined...…… As far as referencing Tiger Woods, If he was world #1 and finished 65th in a soft field tournament the media would have broke the INTERNET with ……."What wrong with Woods" Now, if you disagree with any or all of that go right ahead and comment.

Fair enough, you may have a point. I think the media tends to be crazy and I think that the "pass" the Brooks has is probably a very short leash. If one thing with the media always hold true it is that they are fickle and will turn on you in a second. So, we should just wait and see. If Brook's I just care about major attitude is what gets him the current latitude then we will see what happens after he is not first or second or even top ten in a few Majors.

With his game I do not expect him to do well at the Open. I could be wrong but these long high fade guys don't seem to fair well over there. That is if the wind is up.

So Tiger was the "certain former number one" you were referencing? Why did you deny that earlier when it was pretty obvious.

It's always all about the money. The story or clicks is just the vehicle to get there.

The media hold all #1's to a different standard, I just referenced TW. Once you have ascended to that position, they automatically think that you have acquired some special knowledge and they want to know what you think on all issues.....that's what comes with the territory....They also think that you should win every week. Brooks get to mic during interviews and says "I don't care if I win regular tournament, as long as im focused for the majors".....The media says, okay Brooks. Then Brooks says that he now will apply the same focus that he uses on majors, to reg. tournaments then proceeds to place 65th...…..call him out for some of that nonsense that he's spewing …...That's what I mean when I say hold him accountable.

Really an insightful post (which is rare for most/not all on this board) Sarcasm...LOL! I totally agree that the media will turn on you like a rabid dog......Lets see how he do in the OPEN Championship. If He wins (which I totally expect) then all bets are off and he gets to control the media and his prep method...…..We shall see!
