I've only played Seven Bridges once and found the back nine punishing and not terribly interesting.

I thought that the par 5 12th stands out as an interesting hole, that's the only one I liked on the back 9.

I remember my friend had a good round going, and got the 10th tee and flared one into the water, and he was pissed, and was slamming his club.

Looked bad in front of the wedding party getting their photos taken.

... I have not played Fox Run in over 20 years so I have not even seen it since the renovation. When I worked as a DJ and lived in Chicago I played a lot of golf north and northwest because I had relatives out that way. But since moving to Bolingbrook in '92 about 99% of my golf is in the western and southwestern burbs. Just so many courses out here there is no need to travel more than 15 miles or so with Mistwood, Prairie Bluff, Bolingbrook GC, Naperbrook, Carillon, Wedgewood, Broken Arrow, White Tail Ridge, Heritage Bluff, Village Links, Arrowhead, Cantigny, Prairie Landing and Cog Hill until last year when they let conditions go to the dawgs.

Fox Run is a course you play when the other courses you really want to play are booked. Not a fan of par 5s where you can't hit driver like the 4th hole. It's basic golf, not a lot of personality to the course, the range is disconnected from the course, generally in OK condition after they fixed the drainage issues. If you're in EGV, go play Schaumburg.

Played Edgebrook yesterday (I know, I know) because I was desperate to play. Conditions weren’t horrible (except for one unplayable hole on the back 9 - maybe hole 12?) and managed to have a good time with my friend. The cashier insisted on having my email and phone number, which I felt was super odd.

SV closed itself this afternoon due to Covid-19 concerns.

Bonnie Brook closed completely and Foxford Hills cancelled their scheduled fish fry dinner.

Courses that are park district run will shut down if that district is closing public facilities. Frankly, it makes sense.

It makes sense to close clubhouses and every other indoor facility for sure, but if you're a member at a park district course that has an unlimited play package don't you think you can just go out there and do whatever?y

Makray is open and in pretty good shape. Greens are slow (especially for them), but just fine for March. Very playable.

I only saw one other golfer. He was walking on as I was packing up to leave. I threw a joke at him about how we're the "crazy" ones.

 

They had a wedding or some kind of reception going on so they appear to be business as usual for now.

I'm debating between them and Spring Valley for Sunday's round.

Village Links is open but taking precautions, appropriately.

 

Tanna Farms is open and will pay you to play.

 

St. Andrews is open and in their statement they said if there is nuclear holocaust and only cockroaches survive, they will be open.

Unfortunately, I read TF's T's & C's and you must play every hole. There is also a mandatory $50.00 range fee.

Could not have said it any better.  They literally have 3-4 holes that aren't real golf holes (4, 10, 11 and 13).  You should never have to tee off on a par 5 with an 8 iron (Hole 4).  Throw in the poor conditions and it is not a destination for golfers who are willing to travel.  I give them credit though, based on the location, they have no issue packing the tee sheet on weekends at $65-$70 a round.

Haha, played at St. Andrews this morning. The Andrews course had a scramble going, so I played Jemsek. Course was in good shape for mid-March. And, it looked like they added new sand to all their bunkers.

My grass at home is greening up. I’m ready to play, but I’d have to imagine that over the course of the next week most every course will close. The governor could shut them down like he did restaurants and bars I’d imagine.

There will be some courses that will be ultra conservative but I'm not sure it will be a statewide, mandated action. If a particular city or area becomes a hotspot for the virus, they could make a decision as the did in Westchester County, NY.

Hawk's View today. Had the place to myself and my eight year old daughter. She likes to drive the cart and we listen to dance music.

I was shocked at how dry it was. Fairways were plush. Greens were still recovering from a late aeration, but they were playable.

Course was in fine shape. I three putted way too many times and the wind was making the holes play very long, but I'll take my 86 all things considering.

If we are between playing 2 rounds at Farmlinks or playing each of the Oxmoor Valley courses? Looks like our plan is Hampton Cove courses on Thursday, Silver Lake on Friday, and then Saturday is Oxmoor courses and Sunday Farmlinks, but I have an afternoon flight on Sunday so not sure if there will be enough time to fit Farmlinks in that day.

Farmlinks had a package when I played there: 2 rounds and lunch buffet. They filled our coolers with gatorade and snacks too for like $130.

The course is special and I cannot recommend it enough. Some of the holes are just spectacular to look at and the layout was great. The only bad part was we went in late February so all of the plants and trees weren't in bloom yet. I can only imagine how beautiful that place is in late March/earl April.

 

This is strictly my opinion. Maybe ask the Alabama forum for more info?

 

Btw, The Ridge course is 18 holes of target golf, but very scenic. The Valley course is pretty straight forward once you get past the first hole. I'd rather play Farmlinks twice.

Thanks for the info and your opinion. It looks like at this time we are going to have to postpone our trip. Hopefully can get out there some other time this year, as the courses look awesome

Hampton Cove'a two courses are very forgettable. I'd easily spend Thursday at Farmlinks instead.

I saw that. I played 9 at Seven Bridges today. A lot of people riding and taking the pins in and out. I just don't get it. I put 2 tees in the ground a foot from the hole and putted at them instead of holing out. Everyone putting their hands in 1 spot seems like a terrible idea.

It really is a bummer because golf is one of the safest activities you can possibly do. Virtually no interaction with others if you are walking. I was hoping to get out this week since it will be nice. Hoping Itasca is still open but if not, then hopefully the restrictions are lifted for golf courses on the 7th.

It's bad, but there's also a couple inches of snow on the ground so no harm no foul.
