Yup. Fun tracks. I'm playing the white course on Saturday.

You sure it was Glen Erin? The scorecard has no back to back par 3's. and the driving range seems to be right near the clubhouse when I look at it on Google Earth.

I already have a lot of reservations about going to Milwaukee or any of the surrounding counties (Kenosha as well) to play golf . It's 70% of the cases in the state, and the thought of going down there now while more folks are crossing the border from hot spots gives me the creeps. I get it, I'm a die hard and have already lost a month of golf, when the past two years have been terrible golf years weather wise, especially spring! Right now I'm typically rounding into form and have played some really good courses on the cheap, including Washington Co., Brown Deer Park, Morningstar, broadlands. I've been chomping at the bit to get to Spring Valley CC given who designed it. Glen Erin is in my hometown and it's a fun course, links style with a few tree lined holes that coincidentally look really tight of the tee. I have family there that I technically cannot visit.....and the thought of going to play Glen Erin on a busy day....No Thanks!

Glen Erin is a terrific course. Very fun. Usually in good shape. I highly recommend it.

There are no water hazards on the course, which is a little different. And, no back to back par 3s. The long 3s are #2 and #14. And, #2 doesn't play as long as the card says.

The only part of the course that can get quirky is 13 to 14.....tends to bottleneck a bit as 13 is really short par 4 and you have to pay attention and almost wait til the next group is on the green before teeing off, unless playing an iron from the tee; and then the par 3 next ... Tends to be a group teeing off and a group waiting on the path or on the green putting out and given the close proximity, can be a bit distracting. That being said pace of play is good!

That's a fair critique. For a large piece of property, that section of the course (from the #12 green to the #15 tee box) does feel like the holes are right on top of each other.

I envy those who live within reasonable driving distance as bang for your buck it's right up there amongst my favorites to play....Washington Co. and The Orchards up in Door Co. are in the same category and a similar feel to them.

Wholeheartedly agree. I drive up to play Glen Erin a few times a season from Chicago. That's how much I enjoy the course.

I'm just hoping this year to get the opportunity to play it once.

Ah. The Orchards! What a beautiful course, not many courses with cherry trees littering the rough. Just a beautiful course for scenery...

No doubt....last year they had some winter kill issues on a couple of the greens but other than that the course has been in fabulous shape!

During WW2, people still went to movies, bowling, dancing, drinking, swimming, playing sports, etc. We shouldn’t feel guilty if we can play golf safely.

You’re right. Got it confused with Edgerton Towne CC, home of Steve Stricker. I think we were maybe going to play Glen Erin and ended up there instead. lol. Let me know how Glen Erin is.

Does anyone think they'll be ticketing Illinois plates in Wisconsin parking lots?

What are they going to ticket you for? You are violating the Illinois SAHO and out of their jurisdiction!

A lot of the Donald Ross courses on the North Shore were built during WW1, tuberculosis and the Spanish Flu outbreaks. Cubs also made the World Series.

Wisconsin State Police will ticket people from IL for anything. The last time we went to Erin Hills, there were 4 of us in the car and I bet them we'd get pulled over for speeding, which we did in literally 3 minutes. I was going 71 in a 70 when we were pulled over. Not, he was marginally gracious and didn't ticket me but I got my arse chewed out.

I was going to add to my previous post...make sure not to drive like a typical F1|> and you won't have to worry about a ticket?. I may as well have Illinois plates on my car as I've been pulled over by State, County, and local law enforcement for some, IMO, ridiculous reasons.

Some states like Iowa are only allowing Iowa residents to play golf in the state. There was a case on the east coast where Connecticut guys parked at a McDonald's and hopped in a car with Rhode island plates to go to the Rhode island course and play, even though only Rhode island residents were allowed to play. They were arrested when they got back to their car when an employee at the McDonald's called the police on the car that was there all day.

That being said.... Wisconsin doesn't yet have a rule like that so I don't see any issues.

Back when we just made it just under the grandfather clause in high school, we’d go across the border with everyone’s “weekend” shopping list, add a mandatory stop at the Cheese Castle & Fireworks stand...then shoot bottle rockets out the car window all the way home.

So who's got a tee time this weekend? I decided against Whistling. Weather looks crappy. Brighton Dale on Sunday. Maybe spring valley on Friday? Or maybe fishing. I haven't decided yet.

In one of the press conference this week they asked Pritzker about if they were going to do anything about people crossing state lines and he simply answered, No.

They also asked him if he was going to follow suit with the surrounding states and open golf courses and he did not directly answer the question. Unfortunately I don't see him allowing them to open yet.

Playing next 3 days starting tomorrow at Brighton Dale Links in Kenosha Co. They are raising the cups, pulling the pins, benches, ball washers, etc.... No driving range or even putting green. You and your group go straight to the first tee for your tee time. Weather won't be the best but far from bad other than a little chill and maybe a few rain drops. Should be interesting to see what kind of turnout they get with no carts and if people can follow the rules.

The thought of walking Hawk’s View is intimidating. A round of attrition once you head back up the hill on 14, lol.
