What's the deal with golf Channel's programing?

You know the show that I want to have on the Golf Channel? A show that is a golf version of mystery science theater. Only you don't need the robots. Just have two or three guys that sit there and make fun of golfers. Be it tour footage, youtube, social media, Just run stuff on a screen in front of them and let them have at it.

LOL! ….I'll take a show with just golf bloopers being narrated by anyone. I can not take another re-run of Tin Cup....LOL!

You guys are spot on about tin cup. Seems like anytime I flip to GC after 8pm... Kevin Costner. The Hogan episodes that were on last night were pretty good.

 

They need to come out with a golf equipment show that explores manufacturing, R&D, testing etc. they could also add in insider stories of the people that work there like the guys on the tour truck crews .

Just a thought, but I think they would get a pretty good audience for that kind of thing.

I miss Golf Channel Academy when Jim McClean would talk an entire episode about what we could learn from the greats...

 

It would be a 30 minute show on Jack or Trevino or Johnny Miller....loved that show

Beer drinker's mini series...travel around the country (world?) with a couple 4-somes playing golf, and ragging on the others' games like we all do to each other. Get some great on-course coverage and some extracurricular activities in the evenings of the local hangs.

I joked about the Discovery Channel need to purchase Golf Channel then I just found out that there is a such thing as Discovery's GOLFTV...that is producing the skin game in Japan. Anybody know more about this Company?

I miss the old days when there was a lot of instruction shows on from Pelz, McLean etc.

Challenge Golf and Big Three Golf cannot possibly cost a lot to air. Those were fun shows to watch. Especially liked seeing classic courses the way they were 60 years ago. And of course, SWWoG, both classic and new, are great. Finally, I miss Golf Channel Academy, Academy Live, and Golf Talk Live (hosted by the man whose name shall not be mentoned).

For those who remember what the Golf Channel used to be, I say bring back the instruction shows (used to have Jim Flick show as example), maybe some equipment shows (not the silly invent a club one), more classic Shell WWofG. Anything is better than re-runs of the same 5 movies, tourneys no one has ever heard of and re-runs of ever Tiger victory in the Cat's career.

Live golf is the only thing that does it for me. Men, women, pros, College, club pros, or even long drive tourneys. Televise more full shots and stop showing preshot routines unless it’s sunday and they are in contention.

I miss Golf Talk Live. I know PK is long gone, but can't they find someone to do one on one interviews. Feherity is nowhere near the level of Golf Talk Live. Playing Lessons from the Pros was once a good show. The range sessions hosted by Gary Williams doesn't compare

I've felt that they could do a series on the big inventions/breakthroughs/cool stuff in golf. Something like a documentary on the original Big Bertha Driver, Ping Eye2 irons, graphite shafts, the ProV1, Nike Oven (with all the club customization stuff), Augusta Master's locker room, etc. with the "why did we do/think of that", interviews with engineers, testers, players, company big wigs, back stories. That would be fun if done well, something like ESPN's 30 for 30.
