Nice trophy of the great man. One of the better ones to have plus voted on by the players. Apparently they think that the Majors are over valued by giving it to Rory. Jack and Brooks comments made it much easier by saying " Majors are easier to win than regular tournaments"...… also Brook said that he didn't practice for regular events didn't help his cause either. Hard to reward that kind of thinking...

There are good, valid arguments for both Brooks and Rory. It's not clear cut for either one.

No it is not a popularity contest. Who better knows the value of a win better than the players themselves. I would put more stock in them before writers and announcers. A field of 156 is more challenging than some invitational with a lot of amateur's and club Pros.

In other words.....the Majors are over valued.

The person who wrote that on that other website should be ashamed of himself, and that website should be ashamed of themselves for publishing an article like that. If that website had a comment section below their articles I'm sure that person would have been flamed for writing such a bias opinionated article that has no facts to support his statement.

Each player that voted had a reason for voting for who they did, and no doubt a majority voted for Rory on the simple facts that 14 top tens in 19 events is impressive, and that Mcilroy's impressive play was over a year of play not a two month period.

I believe the suggestion was that the final award was not necessarily reflective of player votes but rather the opinion of Tour leadership.
