MichMan123
I ordered the MMC but unfortunately they don't off a 3 iron. I didn't like the HMB 3 iron. I hate my 818 H1 hybrid but generally hit hybrids fine. I actually really liked the TM Gapr low. I'm thinking TS3 hybrid or Titleist T510. The Callaway Xforged Utility was really good too. The Srixon hybrid is pretty good as well. Any suggestions?? Just thinking out loud here. wam78
Same boat as you OP. I have an mp h5 2i that I just put a Fujikura pro 2.0 in it and love it! But it is mainly a tee club. Also have a 5 wood, but don’t hit it a lot. Distance is similar to my 3 wood. Might look into a more up to date 5 wood and crank it down to fill the gap and maybe lose the 3 wood and see what happens. Hybrids and I are not friends. JJK947
High launch par-5 killer -> 5 wood All around utility -> Hybrid (don't know, don't use them) or chunky driving iron (U510, Srixon) with heavy graphite Iron replacement -> P790 3 iron or Titleist U500 with specs built off your MMC's and steel shaft I have two clubs between 3 wood and 4-iron but if I only had one, it would be something like the U510 or a very small headed hybrid. aussieb
Something you like in the 19-20* hybrid would give you the most versatility in that slot. 5w can be too spinny and you're probably hitting the 14* 3w to keep it lower? The Callaway UT is really great for me, but you need speed to get the height and spin. It's also not as forgiving as most hybrids. Srixon H85 and G410 are my picks as I haven't hit the TS yet, but the 818 weren't as good. Wigeon
Love my 2 hybrid. Generally dislike hybrids in general, but fills the iron to 3 wood gap perfectly. A low, penetrating ball flight, almost never balloons like a 3 wood can. It's a 3-4 year old Mizuno JPX, and I've hit everything close on the market but nothing's even come close. For 210-230 approaches, can open up a little and hit a nice soft-landing high-ish fade, for longer par 5's with no chance of getting home, can hit a safe lowish 220 yard shot with some run out, teed low on layup par 4's or longer par 3's without swinging too hard tend to hit it 225 with a nice little draw. Not great for plowing through and escaping wet rough, but I'd rather have the bite of an iron for that. Honestly, it makes the 3W the easiest club in the bag if I wanna drop in an extra wedge or whatever.

Judge440
Are you hitting into greens a lot with that slot? Or would it be for more of a fairway finder? That's what I'd look at for decision of hybrid vs utility. I've had best luck with Ping hybrids but I actually just put a 410 crossover utility in the bag and I think it may take the place of my 410 hybrid. I like Titleist hybrids/utilities as well. bluedot
KGeorge, given that there is a LOT of room between a 3W and a 4 iron, if you haven't already thought about this, you might want to approach it from thinking more about what you want the club to DO, rather than what the club says on the bottom. If you're looking for a layup club off the tee, you might be talking about a 5W. By contrast, if you are looking for maximum distance off the ground, it might be a 17* hybrid. If you're just looking for the midpoint yardage between your current 3W and 4 iron, that could be either of those, or something else entirely. There are a zillion good clubs out there, with all sorts of brands and names and degrees labeled on them, none of which matters; it's what they DO that matters, especially in a gap like you are talking about. So maybe figure out the yardage and usage first, and work from there?
ProjectX
Making a similar change for 2020 myself. I currently play my Cobra F9 Tour in 4 wood loft and have noticed it's just as good out of the rough as any hybrid I have ever had and even better than my current 3 utility. So for 2020 I'm dropping the 3 utility and going with and F9 3 wood and 5 wood straight to my 4 utility. The rails on the sole really make a difference in getting through the turf and they are the easiest metals I have ever hit from the deck hybrids included. Gave me the confidence to make the switch for my 2020 bag. tgoodspe1991
Definitely get out and try the 19* TS3 hybrid. I've struggled with this spot in my bag for a long, long time and the TS3 has finally fixed that for me. The shape is great and the performance is true hybrid-like; meaning, it's acts like a driving iron off the tee when I want it to, but also a 5-wood into greens when I need it to. In the past, I've gamed a 2-iron or 5-wood and there were times I wished I had the opposite club with me. This is the first hybrid where I actually feel like I'm not compromising and have the best of both worlds. Check out TXG's review of the TS hybrids as well. Matt had much better numbers and dispersion with the TS3 over the TS2 version.
