Need a smooth and stable shaft for my hybrid

Ok guys, I have an Aeroburner 19* hybrid that I picked up off of a friend. When I manage to hit it well it carries a good 15 yards further than my Cleveland launcher of similar loft. The problem is that it is very unpredictable. I hit massive hooks with this club the majority of the time. I suspect the stock matrix speed rulz shaft is not a good match for me. Tip feels a bit unstable to me. To my surprise, one of my favorite hybrid shafts I've tried has been the Fuji Speeder 904HB. I'm not a fast swinger (mid 100s with a driver) and don't put a ton of load on the shaft. More of a moderate tempo with mid release. The 904 just felt right for lack of a better word. Very smooth, accurate and repeatable. My friend commented on how well the shaft fit me. I'm looking for something comparable to try in the Aeroburner before I give up on that club. I was looking for 904 pulls on the bay but have had no luck thus far. Any offering with a similar profile that's more readily available that I should look into? Would prefer to not spend a fortune as well haha.

If you hit massive hook with this hybrid, then it's more than just the shaft in question.

Very likely the lie is too up right, and/or the face angle is closed at set up.

Have the lie angle checked out, and try to square the face of the hybrid at address to the target line.

Otherwise you could try something a bit more in weight and shorter in length.

I’m similar to you and got fitted for the KBS Proto 85S hybrid shaft. I like it so much that I bought a second one just in case. It’s ones of those shafts that’s stable and smooth when you get on it off the tee but swings just as well when you are trying to be easy for a 200 out on the fairway to the green.

I believe it's a combinations of a few things. The aeroburner appears to be 3/4 of an inch longer than my launcher. I aslo suspect the swing weight to be different because the head feels heavier throughout the swing. My theory is that a shorter heavier shaft would make the swingweight feel closer to what I'm used to. Currently it feels like the head causes the shaft to deflect too much and has an affect on my timing. The face appears to sit square and the lie angle looks about the same to my naked eye but who knows. I might just scrap the aeroburner and try and get a TEE CBX or EXS off of the bay. I hit that hybrid very well with the stock Tensei blue. I just hope it fits the gap I want.

I'll give it a look. Would you say it feels similar to the Fuji. Speeder? I've been going through old threads and The Matrix Altus seems to be a good alternative. Wish I had known when Diamond Tour Golf had a bunch of them for dirt cheap.

It's all about fill in the gap in golf clubs. For the most mid cappers, 170-200 yards is a big hole to fill in .

I got new irons last year and picked up a full club on every iron. 4 iron is now my 195 yard club and the launcher is 200 yard. The taylormade is consistently 215 which is what I need. Would be the perfect club between my 4 iron and 3 wood. I could pull out the 4 iron and use the launcher but would have no use for an extra wedge.

I know i mentioned the KBS proto hy above, but I'd also put in a vote for the Vista pro based on price and value. I was fitted for this shaft (woods version) for the 3w and 5w. Its super stable as well.

Silver is updated Tour Green. Rogue Black is the Tour Blue. I have a black in my hybrid, and love it.

There are a number of hybrid shafts to try. Many have already been mentioned. Just looking at a 95g weight like the 904, the one that immediately comes to mind is the old blue PX hybrid. Pick your flex and go. They are under $50 on the bay. Probably my favorite hybrid shaft of all time - very stable tip but not harsh or boardy. Just note that they play soft to flex - 7.0 is more like a true X flex, etc. Others that won't break the bank: Fujikura Motore Speeder 9.8TS, Tensei Pro White 90, Steelfiber i95, UST Elements Ignis/Fire 100. If you can go a little lighter, then Aldila Tour Green 85, Rogue Silver 85, Fujikura Pro 83h. If money is not an issue, the GD IZ-85 or 95 would be my pick. Very stable tip but still gets up in the air and doesn't want to go hard left on me.
