On some courses they charge you for a power cart, even if you're walking.  Pretty soon they'll charge you for a 6-pack of beer, even though you're not drinking.

If you need to take five laps around the green to get a read, you should have to make the putt or take an extra stroke for wasting everybody’s time.

One of the courses I play have a men's club with a steady amount of tournaments. These guys play the course all the time, but as soon as it is a men's club event they take forever on the greens and wait until its their turn to start reading the putt from 4 different directions. I made the mistake being behind them once and never again. Ridiculous.

there should be more penalties for slow play on the green

or have a shot clock when its your time to putt that is enforced 

if your time runs out and you haven't putted its automatic three putt added to your score and you  dont putt and just move to the next tee box

The only people on a golf course should be golfers and employees.  And every golfer needs their own bag. The course isn't a daycare, and it's not a place to hang out with your significant other.

I find the Open courses to be a little boring at times. St. Andrew’s is the only Open course I really enjoy. 
 

I think it’s kinda cringe when courses that aren’t Augusta have named holes.

 

I really like short tricky par 3’s with lots of elevation change and slope.  I wish we got those more often than 250 yard par 3’s with large greens. 
 

I think the current format of “The Match” is incredibly lame and contrived. 
 

I think the TGL is a ridiculous gimmick and won’t last. If LIV team golf with 54 holes is stupid, and it is, then indoor 18 hole simulator team golf is even dumber.

When my grandpa took me to the course when I was a youngin, I had a little club and a putter to mess around with at least. He was teaching me not just golf but how to act like a decent person. 
 

I saw a literal gaping redacted a few months back with his boys, probably 6 and 8, just yelling at them for wanting to play. A guy in my foursome and I had some very strong words at this redacted for his bad parenting, general rudeness, and disrespect of the course. Felt bad for those kids, I mean cmon, how are you gonna bring boys that age to a golf course and then be a massive redacted about not letting them participate when they are clearly bored as hell. 
 

The one time I tolerate slow play is when little kids or really old folks are involved in the game. I’m more than happy to be patient in those cases when people are learning the game but man it pisses me off to end to see parents bringing their kids to the course just to let them run around like a nutjob.

Indeed! I see this at restaurants all too frequently. Parents sitting and eating/talking while their kids are running around, standing in their seats, playing “drums” on the table w/the utensils… I expect it at Chuck E Cheese. Not at a decently nice restaurant. You’re a parent! Do ur job!! 🫤🤪

And while I’m here. Being completely over the rollback thread isn’t an unpopular opinion. I’d wager it’s an overwhelming popular opinion. At this point it’s like 4 guys that just don’t know when to let it go! Exchange numbers and start a group chat 😊

But yeah, I’ll just ignore it ‘til that happens  🙉🙈🙊😇

The golf course, with the right approach, is 100% a great family place.  Expecting a young child to enjoy watching Dad play golf is utter nonsense.

I do agree if you're going to a nice restaurant then recruit the Grandparents or a babysitter.   A win-win for the restaurant patrons and for yourselves.

Sure, but the South course Mon-Thur is $69 for residents. $85 Friday n weekends. Not too shabby.

That is what that course should cost for everyone...it is not a great course, or even a good course in my opinion.

The views from the paragliders perspective looking back at the course  from out over the ocean are amazing...but I was there for the golf!!  Yup you got me...I was researching club houses and heard that TP's was legendary with that early 1800's charm! so I had to pay $250 to see what was up!

Bingo! Location, location, location!! Ocean views like that are special even if the course is “not even good” to some. If all ya want is the golf and don’t care about the view/scenery, by all means go play inland 😊 Someone behind ya more than happy to pay $300. 

 

*Im bias as I’ll sit on a bench in Carmel and look at the ocean for an hour +. And that’s free99!! 🙌🏼

Music in my group does not bother me as long as it is like you say not "blasting" Now from 2 fairways over it does

My French Bulldog is better behaved than most kids and supposedly adults in public
