Can the Titleist 910H still hang with the latest and greatest hybrids out there?

I have learned my lesson before, as it took going through quite a few drivers that nothing is really better than my 910 D2 driver. Well, I'm wondering if the same thing is true about my 910 hybrid.

I have complete faith and trust in that thing, but I'm just wondering if I'm leaving a decent amount of yards and forgiveness out there with so many newer models available now. Has anyone else with a 910H compared it to the latest and greatest? And if you have, how does it stack up? Thanks

Yards? Definitely not leaving anything out there. Forgiveness? Yes, the 818s will go a little higher and a little further if you happen to drastically miss the sweet spot. If you hit a lot of thin shots, it will run out further with less spin, and toe shots will hold their line a little better, but nut for nut there is not much yardage out there to be gained. I just sold all my 818s and went back to a 2016 Apex. The value in being comfortable with a hybrid or fairway wood far outweighs the incremental improvements in forgiveness IMO. I also sold all my TS2 woods and went back to my trusty G25. The forgiveness in the new stuff is indisputable, but you don't need the forgiveness if you are hitting the center of the club face consistently out of comfort.

You said it all in the beginning of the second paragraph the main thing "faith and trust" I would say it works for you. Who cares about a few more yards when you have that much faith and trust in that club. And it does not have to be the latest and greatest to work for you. Heck I am gaming an old Adams A-12 OS hybrid that is what 12 years old ? and would not even think of taking it out of the bag unless I am playing my persimmon stuff

I agree that latest is not exactly greatest. Particularly with hybrids/fairway woods and putters at least for me. I could care less about picking up yards with a new hybrid. That would screw up my entire bag. I've had the Adams hybrids I've got for 6 years or more and I wouldn't consider getting anything else. I've tested others and I don't find the newer ones to be any more forgiving or playable. Some may be longer, but as I said that would just screw up my gapping. When it comes to hybrids, once you find something that works and that you can count on you don't change them until you're desperate. Like I don't even test drive the new ones to avoid the temptation.

I had all Titleist hybrids and would say that the 818h1 and the TS2 is more forgiving, longer and hard to hook like the older hybrids.

Had the 910H in the bag for quite some time. Thought they were the best hybrid I'd ever played. Tried the 915H but never consistent results. I was looking for a certain shaft and found one that came in a 816H1. OMG what a fun club to hit. Easier than the 910H to alter the trajectory for me. More forgiving and a touch longer.

I did the same. But I do love my 915h now and won't move it. I dont think you are losing much with older hyrbids especially if you are comfortable with them. Distance is great but I want consistency from that club, like a normal long iron. The 910h with the right shaft is as good as anything else.

For me Hybrids have always been about filling a gap, so as long as they still fill it and you're comfortable hitting it I see no reason to replace them. Unless of course you just want new shiny, in which case fill your boots ?

the greatest is NOT the latest, it's a money pit through ego desires, golf equipment has maxed out 14 years ago- it's not a myth. why do you think woods avgd over 320 yards in the week of the 97 masters, with a 250 cc titanium driver (guess in the cc's but not far off) ?? Equip actually maxed out 8 years later with the highest allowed COR's. It's all a hype by sleekness and to get your dollars. Oh, hybrid clubs are no exception. Each year they release ne equipment the cor limit does and will not change, buddies.

More than anything, I feel that hybrids are the most feel/comfortability/preference of any club in the bag. I tested my 915H versus the 818 when it came out and I was hitting mine higher, farther, and more consistently than the new offering. I'll definitely give the TS2 a try, but I have a hard time thinking it will replace it, especially since I haven't lost any distance on this club at all. The shaft makes a big difference for sure!

These comments are all "true" to some extent, but miss the point a little in my opinion. The new hybrids are better. This is demonstrably true. The faces are hotter (this is not true for drivers, but is true for 3 woods and hybrids post-RBZ, where they got hybrid and wood faces to the cor limit).

That said, before the "play what you trust" club lights me on fire, it won't matter unless you have a massive sample size AND the new club doesn't degrade your swing at all. One of those two is very likely to be false. If you don't play *a ton* the gains from a slightly hotter hybrid face won't show up in your score at all. The more you play the more a small edge matters, no matter how small. Second, you might not like the new hybrid as much to look at as the 910 and therefore swing it worse. This is more likely than a less hot face being better than a hotter face.

Putting aside for a minute that storm86 seems to have figured out the conspiracy, the latest can be the greatest, because its different. There might be a hybrid out there (say, the Cobra MyFly from 2016) that fits your eye better. That's better. Just the fact that there is a ton more choice is in and of itself better.

As always, the correct play is to go shopping with an eye to having fun, hit a lot of hybrids and only leap if one really catches your eye.

Since I have the 816 H1 in both 23 & 25 (4 & 5 iron) with high launch shafts, I have kept my 910h 21 in the bag as more of a true utility club. I can hit it about 190/ 200 with a flatter trajectory and also use as my punch out rescue club.

Older equipments can compete with newer ones for sure. No hybrids have kicked off my trusted Callaway XHot Pro hybrids off my bag.

He keeps thinking it’s time to update from his 909h. But he hasn’t yet. He has come to the opinion that the 5-10 yards improvement in expected distance is going to help as he hits his 909h 21* about 5-10 yards shorter than when he first bought it long ago. He also feels the voodoo shaft is too squishy feeling and when he really steps on it he has concerns.

Some of the longest drives I've ever hit were with a 910D3 9.5* driver so I don't see why not. I still have a 24* 910H with Project X shaft and it's just as good as the latest and greatest. Justin Thomas shot a 59 couple years ago at the Sony with clubs that some might consider "obsolete". lol
