NorCal golf and new to golf WRX

Hey all,

I recently moved to Chico, CA from Canada and am new to golf WRX. I am still looking for info on how to navigate this site for buying/selling equipment, as well as general posts for information that is posted here.

I am also looking for information about the golf scene up in NorCal, as I do enjoy playing competitively. Where should I be looking for tournaments, and even some games to join up here? I am a +0.2 and keen to get involved with golf out here.

Looking for any and all info you may be able to provide me.

Look into Northern California golf association NCGA. Most clubs have a men’s club that you can join and have monthly tournaments.

Great thanks. I have joined a local club. Really just wondering if anyone knows about local-ish tourneys, when the season usually runs from, that sort of info.

Also any nice courses to know about and play up here? Thanks again.

NCGA has a tourney calendar on their site that will show a pretty good bunch of the local tourneys. Things will start to kick off in March-ish and usually run through around Sept or Oct but there will be some offseason stuff as well

Pretty sure Chico has a city amateur and you are not to far away from coming down to Sac where there are city and county ams, a couple 4 balls, and a couple bigger tourneys like the memorial am on memorial weekend and the state fair championship in september, both of those require qualifying/invite. Pretty sure davis, roseville, redding, and maybe some others run city ams as well.

Unfortunately most of the ncga stuff although they have local qualifiers require a multi day trip to monterey for the finals, Which is a hike and expensive, but a great experience and great golf if you can swing it

Just wanted to check in, I myself am beginning to play more am tourneys this year. Starting off small... recently played the Oakland City after 15+ years of not playing competitively (76-80, ouch). The Antioch City and Concord City are both on the docket as well since I've played both those courses a handful of times. Good luck and maybe i'll see ya on the first tee one of these days.
