@Golfjack Completely agree on ball speeds. Any radar used is going to vary from another. I've run my MEVO against pro-line LMs (FSx3 and TM) and good quality sims (HD Golf; e6 Truswing). Never once did I find a discrepancy or trending variance that would make me question MEVOs accuracy.
I think it's known that MEVO+ will have simulation. IMO, the early renderings look a bit cartoonish, but for my use, perfectly acceptable. The question is whether it will have full connectivity to the highly coveted e6 and TGC sims. If it does, I would think it would mean the end of the road for Flightscope's Xi line. Just not enough differentiation...
If they want to preserve the Xi, I could see a MEVO+ having connectivity to a trial version of e6 Connect which I think has a range and a course or two.

I'm on my second Mevo and was on the original wait list. I love the latest version and have been using it a ton for my sons 10u Travel Baseball team. With winter being long and drawn out it works flawlessly at the driving range and in the baseball cages on a tri-pod. When will the new Mevo be available for pre-order?

FlightScope's application with the FCC states the Mevo+ is going to be using similar 24GHZ s-band frequency microstrip patch antennas found in the original Mevo. The Xi series utilizes 10.5MHZ x-band frequency radars which are much more powerful and have much higher definition to accurately measure data points, especially club data. Most any radar is good at accurately picking up speed of an object like a golf ball.

Yeah I can see the Mevo+ being set just below the now discontinued Xi . Basically giving normalized ball data based on partial flight and likely adding spin axis/horizontal launch such that they can give L/R dispersion. AoA and spin loft will be saved for the Xi+ and above, as well as the ability to track the full ball flight.

Reckon we'll see. If it's in that price range; definitely a bit more than I wanna spend on what's effectively a "nice to have" and I'll just pick up the old one. From everything I read; it was accurate *enough* for distances which is all I really want it for.

For a phased array radar, pulse rep frequency, dopler freq, and power will certainly effect the detection threshold (min and max range) and velocity threshold but once detection has occurred, the velocity measurements from the dopler shift and even distance measurements should be plenty accurate for any golfers needs. For directional accuracy (azimuth and elevation) the number of array elements used will be a bigger factory than either of the frequencies. And I haven't seen anything that gives an indication of what they've done with that (the size of the unit). But likely more elements than the mevo but fewer than the larger Xi Tour/X3 units.

Do they really used a phased array? Seems like patch antenna have a wide enough angular sensing range?

@Stuart_G @Lincoln_Arcadia You guys seem to know a lot about the tech behind the FS LMs. My understanding of the current MEVO (NOT MEVO+) is the purpose of club selection is to "point" ball detection to an expected shot window. Is that correct? If so, why is that needed? I've not purposely hit shots outside of the selected club to test. Thanks again to you both for adding technical insight to this thread!

The larger units (TM, X series) are phased array (both TM and FS clearly point that out on their web sites). But not sure about Mevo. I had thought so but never saw anything to actually confirm it so could be wrong. I don't know for sure but I wouldn't think the patch antenna's have enough of an azimuth detection capability to be able to get accurate launch angles. At least not a single patch antenna.

Although the two (phased array and patch) aren't really mutually exclusive. Multiple patch's can be used to form a phased array - or a single patch could be created with an array of multiple antennae that could used as a phased array antenna.

e6 Connect is $2500 on its own. It will be interesting to see if FlightScope has worked out any discount packages for the e6 sim software or include the Awesome Golf software with the Mevo+.

I hadn't seen that, where was that shared? I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a SkyTrak but this has me putting that on hold until all the details on this are released.
