Then I hit a few blades for fun after. The TM Tiger Blades are amazing. If I was a Tiny bit better I would have bought them on the spot.

Which Carl’s location did you go to? I usually just go to Miles of Golf but thought about a fitting at Carl’s just to see the differences between the fittings. Only thing that slightly turns me off about Carl’s is that the sales people work on commission and feel like they will say anything if they sense a sale.

carls is great. I never felt pressure to buy anything and I'm there quite a bit. But i've also purchased quit a bit

It's an amazing store like nothing else I've ever seen (Bloomfield)

Srixons definitely spin a bit less. Do you happen to have pics of your numbers? I’d be interested to see. I just went and tested the Z forged against my MP20 yesterday and the ZF seemed longer and more forgiving with the same spin. Also tested 785 against my Mp20 on course as my dad is now playing my old clubs. MP20 is more muted and softer but the Srixons feel just as good. The 785 are more forgiving. I hit a few shots on par 3s with both clubs and anything slightly toe side is around 5 yards longer and a more on line with the 785. Im thinking of doing a ZF/785 combo.

also considering some apex pro dots

It's interesting. It seems like a lot of recs came to DG 120s. Two buddies of mine both with completely different swings, releases, speeds both got iron fittings and ended up in DG 120s, one in S and one in X. Is something going on? These seem to be showing up a lot.

I'm a little confused, you've sold sets of both MP20 MMC's and T100's in the last couple of months and now currently have Z785's. So I'm just curious why you are back testing MMC and T100? You had them previously with DG S300 and didn't like them, can't see going with the same with DG120 making that much of a difference.

Have you ever been to TXG for an iron fitting? I love Carl's for browsing and trying stuff, but the TXG fitting experience is something else, and probably closer for you as well. You don't even have to do a full iron fitting, take in your Z785's for a loft and lie analysis for $50. Could be that adding a bit of loft might give you the spin you want and you can stick with what you have.

Carl's is across the Detriot River for him, I'm guessing maybe 40 miles, tops. TXG is 240 miles due east in Toronto.

Ive also had I210 at one time. Also have a set of MP53s, AP2 718, MP4 Blades and a few others. I havent had a fit in 2 years so I was due.

you will be more than a little confused if followed my golf club obsession over the last 15 years so don't bother.

Ive moved to Michigan 1/2 time but the distance isn't an issue.

The fact that I'm hitting outdoors to a target green 180 yards away trumps anything that TXG can do.

Great info and thanks for sharing! I'm torn between p760 and 785's. I'm concerned about the lower launch/spin on the 785.

I've been on TGN for 10+ years so I know what you've been selling. I'm not exactly sane, I've driven from Toronto all the way to Carl's just for an afternoon to try new stuff.

But regarding fitting at TXG, I used to feel the same, that I could only judge clubs by hitting them outside to a proper target. Couldn't get good results in the GT sim, just felt closed in and and like I wasn't swinging to a target. TXG is completely different, open and spacious, not far off from hitting to a real green. It was a revelation, Ping had fit me into a 100g R steel shaft 5 years ago, at TXG I was getting my best results with the Modus 130 S, didn't hit any shafts under 120g. Couldn't argue with the results, it was a game changer.

Just curious, you typically seem to end up with DG S300 or something close. Never see you doing anything with the Modus shafts, have you tested the 120X or 125S? Seems to me that if your Carl's fitting indicated DG120 one of those might be an option.

I'm not sure on your "trumps" assertion but If that gives you a greater degree of comfort, so be it. Gary Woodland seemed to like his fitting at TXG as he won the U.S. Open shortly after.

thats good for Gary. I'm sure TXG is great and you have a personal connection with them as well but I refuse to get fit indoors. I was supposed to go to Ping in oakville but the dates never worked out and I'm happy it didn't

I don't like to get fit indoors - I never seem to get comfortable and just don't feel like helping unless I can see where the ball is going.

I've lost some SS for sure. the 120s will almost certainly be my next shaft as I love the feel of DG but can use a few less grams.

You've just solved a problem for me. I had a PING fitting last year and they recommended i210's. I've hated them. Lost at least a club or more in distance and they feel awful. I've always been a high spin player and your results suggest they have just given me a high spin club!!! They also suggested Project x LZ's when I have always loved Dy Gold's.

Time for a new fitting from somewhere else.

Thanks

Hi Tommyj

The whole things been a disaster and I'm ready to move on. I think I'm difficult to fit because some of my data is like a tour pro and some of it is like a hacker. My swing speed, tempo, centredness, distribution are all really good but my angle of attack is too steep and I spin the ball too much. An old leg injury makes my hips work the wrong way. Even though I have a steep angle of attack I post up on the leading leg really well and actually pick the ball pretty cleanly and don't take big divots. My swing path is more like a V shape than a U shape. . I don't think PING had a club for me and the fitter was trying to compensate for it. What I really need is a hackers shape with a good players flight. i.e. a big cavity that doesn't spin too much.

Would you have any recommendations?

The Z785 sounds like it might be ok. The Callaway Rogue Tour from a couple of years back also looked like it might be a good fit. Haven't had a driver I liked since the old steel headed Taylor Made Burner 20 years ago!!!! I find it interesting that a lot of tour pro's have drivers shortened and adjusted yet I haven't found this service offered to amateurs in Australia. I've tried shortening my drivers but I don't have a decent setup to do it properly to cater for the loss of flex, swingweight, deadweight etc.

try the apex pro. They aren't hackers clubs but they are low spin, forgiving and long as F. They don't feel amazing but good enough.

I'm considering them even though they didn't spin enough for me. I can move the the ball a bit more forward and spin will increase.

I think i'm leaning towards the T100.

I hit them excellent with both the stock Amt and DG120.

I know if I get the Pings I won't use them. I need chrome shine irons.
