Ping Isoforce Anser F - Anyone know the history

I was doing my typical nightly ebay browsing when I stumbled upon a putter I’ve always wanted. I only know of one other LH putter in existence (Buero owns it).

Anyone know how many left handed putters were made in this model?

I know for sure the Anser and b60s were made in LH and maybe the Sedona. Not sure about others. The LH ones were available with either copper or aluminum pixils. The titanium pixils were only made in rh as far as I know. But if you just contact Ping customer service they’ll be glad to give you the straight dope. They’ve always been responsive to questions about older Ping models for me and are usually pretty quick about getting back to you.

The OP's model in the pic is the higher-grade Ti pixel one. I don't know the production number for LH but would guess it was low; maybe 100 max?.

The RH Ti Anser F was produced both in a numbered series and without numbers. I've seen arguments on both sides as to which were rarer, but a mint/unused one is certainly extremely rare.

Famous (sort of) for being Chris DiMarco's putter when he almost won the Masters in 05 only to be foiled by a certain famous chip shot on #16...

I’ve tried doing research and what you just said seems to be the story I gathered as well. I’ve emailed Ping since I’m more interested in how many left handed putters exist similar to this one (again I only know of one other).

If I like the putter enough I may game it, if not I’ll probably just hold onto it as a collection putter. Will be great to have it either way.

Let us know what Ping says about the LH with ti pixils. I was under the impression that they weren’t made in lh at all.

Ping got back to me today. They don't know how many LH were in production. They were able to give me when they were being produced and the material breakdown, but that was about it.

ping would have made a sizable amount as it’s not worth their time for small batches. I have a brand new righty. My pixel “insert” is smaller than the OP’s.

Sorry to say but your wrong. Your smaller pixel one is the “retail” version. The larger amount of pixels were limited and made in lefty in the larger pixels is super rare.

Also the pixels in putter pictured above (smaller pixel one) are not made out of titanium like the op’s. They’re aluminum.

I didn’t say mine is the special larger insert version. If you read my post I actually say mine is the smaller insert version.

What I meant was that just because you only know one other person that owns a lefty version, that doesn't mean Ping didn’t make more of them. Ping isn’t going to make single digit versions of clubs for sale. Sure they may make custom versions for PGA pros but most likely not for resale.

Reread my post. As I stated - “I have a brand new righty. My pixel “insert” is smaller than the OP’s.” I know it’s not the same version. Mine is the isoforce anser 2F with smaller pixel insert as I stated.

I should have referenced my “tiny” 573 page ping reference book first. Here are a few snippets and photos. Doesn’t day the exact numbers produced but would think thief would be in the mid hundreds as a limited number. some info and photos of pings other pixelated wrx versions also. Hopefully this additional info is helpful.

Any ever find out which model is the rarest  of the 2. With or without the number on the front? I own the Cushin and the Anser F with the Ti faces. Cushin model is numbered on the face. Anser F is not.  Thanks

Guessing, but probably without.

Numbered is more “valuable”.  Numbered ones denote what number the putter was in the original allotment of, ie. 2000 #’d putters made.  After the 2000th, then the rest were just sent out with no numbers and not as “valued” as the numbered ones.

My Ti pixel one no but mine was light and I got rid of it years ago. My production version fished out a lake is 330 grams. See the thread in putter mods.

I have the Darby f and the Anser 2 f.

fantastic putters- not numbered, but still valuable, and make a regular appearance in the rotation

I am not sure that's true - and it certainly isn't definitive.  The numbered ones were part of a run of 3000 (not 2000) and they come up more often on the bay than non-numbered.   I have not noticed much, if any, difference in price - and the occasional one which has been claimed to be tour issued or used has always been non-numbered.

How can you tell the titanium insert from the aluminum? I have a B60f in manganese bronze with the insert.  The neck says B60f on one side and USA on the other.

The Ti pixels were the 124 ones (larger pixel area) and were only made in the Anser, Darby and Sedona WRX models.

 

B60s, Pals and Zings were the later main production models which all had the smaller area 50 aluminium or cu pixels.
