Grass. Plenty of open area too. Super easy to find a nice section of unhit grass. You pay for bucket at the beverage stand, she hands you a ticket, walk to range and hand the ticket to the guys in front of the ball dispenser. They take the bucket of balls out to where you want to hit and dump them there. Worked very well, didn't come anywhere close to anyone the whole time. Wish other courses would take this approach.

Raccoon Creek sounds like they have a good system for the range. Currently Applewood range is open but it is off mats. Their system is to call and reserve a 30 minute slot and the balls are already there from one emloyee, so you don't have to touch anything. Will Hyland Hills range be open too? I'm wondering if Legacy and Walnut will open soon too. I could see Legacy practice area being closed and Walnut's open. Just saw an article from Golf Digest say golf is extremely low risk, lol. Who would have thought?

The Links is opening their range tomorrow. Don’t have any details other than that but it will be grass. I think they will just have dividers

I think most golf courses should be able to something that allows for golfers to warm up. The group that is on deck can practice putting or chipping, and the two groups before them can be on the range. Once the group from the practice green goes to the tee box, the next foursome in line can proceed to the putting green, and the next foursome can start on the range.

Hey guys, hope everyone is well and healthy! I've been shut down from work and golfing my guts out. Highlands Ranch has stayed open for walking the whole time. I've played between 10-12 rounds in the last four weeks and my game is good as it's ever been. Cheers!

Courses in Fort Collins opened as of yesterday (4/27). I'll be playing my first rounds of the year (since late September) on Friday and Saturday. I'll hit some balls at Mountain Vista Golf Course (range is open as it is a Larimer County course and the city courses still will not allow practice and putting only if a person is playing (no holes).

Do you know how they’re setting it up, ie cups, carts, flags, etc. We still don’t have cups here in Greeley, just a reflector on a thin stake stuck in the green.

Collindale appears to have flags in (from what I can see off the first hole - red flag in today). I also see people riding in carts.

Agreed! I am hoping that a great bit of normalcy is on the near horizon. Being home all these weeks and watching Collindale greening up and being maintained meticulously and NOT being able to go to the course even to the pitching green with my shag bag made the stay at home less bearable than it really should have been.

I played Collindale Golf Club in Fort Collins yesterday. Pins are in but the cups are not deep, the ball is just over the edge of the hole. Greens were punched about 10 days ago so they are a little bumpy and pretty slow for normal Collindale speed. The course is in really good condition but you can already see golfers who lack ediquite not repairing their ball marks on the green. I spent a bit of time fixing extra ball marks as did my fellow playing partners. Spacing for groups is a bit longer for social distancing. Practice facilities (driving range and pitching green) are still closed. Putting green is open but only for those who are playing and only 15 minutes before tee time. I'll play again tomorrow. It is great getting back out.

Played Todd Creek today and their greens are really nice. They also have their driving range open.

I skipped golf yesterday due to rainy day in the morning. It didn't clear up until early afternoon. I played Collindale today. Drove the ball much, much better. Iron shots were better, more solid strikes. I hit more fairways, greens so I had a few more putts, 24 the other day with a lot of chipping to 28 today with fewer chips and a lower score. Best part about it is my body isn't thinking about a mutiny today like it did on Friday.

Played my 2nd round of 2020 on Sunday. Bested the previous week by 10 strokes. Played Thorncreek for the first time, and somehow shot a 77. Was beautiful out, and got a little burnt on my arms. Now I'm just looking for where I want to play this weekend. Golf is fun!

Haven't played up there in ages and just went to their site...holy shit...when did they get so expensive?! $60 to WALK on a weekend? I used to play up there all the time when there were Hot Deals for $25 in a cart on the weekends.

Yeah. I generally only play there when I can get the deals. I think they've gotten pretty good uptake of all their membership and discount programs, so they don't need the general public as much.

Yeah I booked a time for Todd Creek on Saturday because I couldn't find an early tee time elsewhere. Haven't played there in forever...we'll see if the $60 or whatever is worth it. What annoys me most is they use GolfNow for their tee times so it was a $10 charge to book the foursome. Didn't realize that when I was booking, otherwise I would have just called. It annoys me to no end when courses charge for reserving a time. Last time that happens.

Is Todd Creek really a walk-able course? Seem to recall some good distances between a couple holes

I refuse to use Golfnow any longer. Their strict no refund policy is crap. It was snowing out but the course insisted they were “open”

Yes but it is probably a hole or two longer than walking a regular round due to that. Go to the parking lot/street from 9 to get to 10. Don't make the mistake of going down and back up.

Todd Creek in decent shape these days? I haven’t played since the $25 deal days either. Used to always be windy when I played up there

Walnut Creek and Legacy Ridge finally calling the staff back from their paid vacation and opening Saturday for walking with 15 minute tee time gaps. Both should be pristine with going this long without any play.

I also just realized that for the morning tee times, Todd Creek is apparently requiring people to take carts. Are you kidding me? I can't choose to walk instead of ride solo in a cart? Then the later times are walking only with no option for a cart. I'm going to clarify when I get there in the morning but....wtf? You won't let me walk? I don't care about the rate difference. I'll pay to make up for some lost revenue, but let me walk if I want to.

As of last week, it was open, but you had to have a tee time that day for the championship course in order to get balls.

Collindale is playing faster now. Greens have been rolled and cut down. I would say speeds are about 9.5 so I am able to at least get the putts to the hole. Still no opening of the practice facilities.

Todd Creek is in great shape. Greens were fantastic and ran very true at a decent speed. It was windy as hell this morning, sometimes a 3 club difference into the wind. If the ball got caught up in the wind at all, it looked like it hit a wall, stalled, then dropped straight down. Overall a good experience. Probably won't play there a ton (I'd rather play Riverdale or Buffalo Run up in that area), but I certainly wouldn't say no to playing there again.
