We’re down in Highlands Ranch tonight. I’m surprised by how much snow is left here. I would expect after today it’s all gone in Greeley.

I just got back from Family Sports after hitting some balls on the range. I thought CommonGround (the course, the range is open) would be open today, but they're saying closed tomorrow even. Weird.

Anyone know if Murphy Creek will be open if the snow melts this week? I know they typically open back up in March.

Honestly I didn’t really notice since I knew I couldn’t play this weekend and am busy the first part of the week. But last I looked it was supposed to be almost 70 this weekend, and mid to upper 60’s from Wednesday on. So any snow we might get tonight shouldn’t last very long. I’ll be interested to drive by Highland Hills tomorrow and see if Saturday’s weather cleared it.

Initial projections in Denver metro were for 1-3 inches, but that changed today to 2-5. It's stacking up pretty quickly outside our building in Cap Hill, but with the warm weather, I don't expect it to stick around very long. I booked a round Friday AM at Riverdale, and I don't see a reason it won't be open.

EDIT: Looks like it's actually supposed to lighten up here in the next couple of hours. I can't imagine anything east of I-25 being that bad, at least in the Denver area.

Dang. I was there on Saturday, too. Although, I was in the pro shop getting my daughter fitted out in hockey gear (so much for buying any new golf gear this year). The range looked packed. I'll be at Family Sports on Monday evenings for the next two months for hockey. I probably will sneak out and buy a small bucket and hit an 8-iron most evenings.

I will be driving to NM soon and am thinking about stopping along the way for golf. Any suggestions? I am thinking Four Mile Ranch or Walking Stick. Four Mile Ranch will be a bit out of the way but from what I read it sounds like it is pretty cool and might be worth it. Appreciate any input.

Walking Stick is good but Four Mile Ranch is a much more interesting design. Be aware that the greens will likely be slower. Every time I've been to Four Mile Ranch in the winter they were longer than in the summer.

If you can golf during the week, quite a few deals at the Chaparral High School Athletics silent auction. Powered By There are auctions available for Ballyneal and Colorado Golf Club. There is also one for a foursome at The Broadmoor, but it's only available for live bidding at the banquet tonight.

SSPRD closed all of their golf courses for the next week or two. So much for hitting at the Family Sports range.

Schools are closed this week and now Vail Mountains are closed as well. Better hope some of the local courses and driving ranges stay open!

The independently run courses won't close unless the governor orders it. Kind of surprised Denver is keeping the city ones open for now with all the other city run ones shutting down around Denver. The parks budget must really rely on golf revenue. Going to take advantage of that and get a round posted since the season started today.

I am not sure if the city courses in Fort Collins are closed or not. If they are I can go to the practice hole and work on my wedge game unless they are closed and banning all public access to the course. I haven't picked up a club yet so I am itching to do so.

Westminster closed their courses but left the restaurants OPEN (albeit with limited hours and menu). Go figure.

Aurora courses are open but they cancelled all leagues, men's clubs, etc through April 30.

 

As an aside, if anyone knows of companies in the area that need video work done (edits, etc), please feel free to reach out. I'm self-employed and so is my wife, and we're already feeling the crunch from this pandemic. One of my clients does AVL installs in large churches, but with the CDC suggesting that gatherings of 50+ people not happen for the next eight weeks, there goes that one for the time being. And all sports are off which means U.S. Soccer isn't playing games, and my wife primarily works with travel companies, so she's lost one of her contracts because her client is taking huge losses.

Happy to entertain ideas if you guys have any, but it's gonna be a rough few months, I can assume. Just fortunate to be healthy.

I heard this morning from someone at City of Aurora they are in discussion on keeping the courses open or closed? If they remain open they thinking of changing to 12-15 min spacing Vs 8/9 min currently. Telling groups to keep that space. I thought it was funny as normally you get jumped for not keeping pace... now it will be ... "YOUR TO CLOSE... SLOW DOWN" =) Not sure they will implement that our not.... or stay open?

Odd that Westminster is closing the golf but leaving restaurants open? Just an assumption but they contract those with private parties I think so I would guess it would be a breach of contract potentially if "pandemic" is not listed.

I am in the boat (wrong or right) that think aspects have gotten a bit out of control from "media panic" as I call it. I do think social media is a major part of the scare...to much false information running around. Though I do laugh at some of it, like why the mad rush on toilet paper ??? I don't see diarrhea listed as one of the symptoms =)

I just read they are starting clinical trials today (?) so maybe that will help... either way stay safe, healthy and hit them straight it your able to play.

As Brianhorne8 noted, the next few months are going to be interesting.

Yeah the Westminster course restaurants are under a leased contract and independent from the city. I'd love it if the remaining open courses spread out their tee times. Sub 10 minute times are one of the reasons it takes 5 hours to play public courses. I had a nice 4 hour round at Willis Case yesterday.

The TP buying started because there was a rumor the same paper pulp used to make masks is used for TP. So if they make a ton of masks, no TP. The original reason doesn't really matter now though because it's all self fulfilling panic buying at this point.

Commonground looked pretty fully yesterday. Took the kids out to the range and par 3. Only time i have had to wait to hit on the par 3 course.

I have a 4:20pm tee time at Wellshire tomorrow afternoon. I may have one or two spots open if anyone is interested. Or you can just book the 4:10pm tee time.

City of Denver just announced all golf courses closed until further notice.

Super bummed that the USGA announced they canceled local qualifying for US Open. On the bright side, I'll be getting my entry fee back for the Four Ball qualifier which took place all the way back in the first week of October lol. Looks like it will only be casual rounds until probably mid May, is my best guess.

The course was surprisingly busy, although most people were just there to hit balls at the range.

Went out with a co-worker, seven dewey, and Mrs. dewey. It was nice to get out in the fresh air. I also three-putted four of the first five holes because that's how awesome I am.

The city courses in Fort Collins (Collindale, Southridge and City Park) are now closed. There is healthy activity out there with people accessing the course anyway. I may go out and take a "walk" later this week.
