I live near Fossil Trace and play it once in awhile but I don't like it near enough to pay their full rates more than once or twice a year, but I see how they can charge so much as it is a bit of "spectacle" that people travel to.

That said, I went out Thursday evening to walk the back 9 and it was only $15. I thought that was a great deal even with the temp green on 15. Went off at 5 so plenty of time to finish the 9. Agree the renovation at 15 will be a big improvement, and it looks like it should be ready to go fairly soon.

Played CG yesterday. After starting out double-double (which is insanely annoying because those are some easy holes) I pulled it together and finished the remaining 16 at +2 for a nice 77. Not a single 3-putt and every made putt felt like it was hitting center of the raised cup at a great speed. Was a blast, best I've played in a long time. Wasn't able to get out today but hope those of you who did enjoyed it, what a beautiful day!

Played Common Ground yesterday. Greens are slow but pretty smooth. Lots of spots that haven't started growing in the fairways that should be helped by the snow today. I really enjoyed it because balls were running and I was able to play a lot of bump and run shots. For their adjustments they went with having the cups sticking out of the ground an inch. I prefer the courses with inserts in the cups, but at least you get to play.

Yes the upside down cups at Fossil Trace were a great idea. Ball drops enough that you can feel like it’s still real golf, but not so far you can’t retrieve it without touching the flag

starting to see some city courses open up now. Fox Hollow/Homestead in Lakewood as well as Broken Tee in Englewood to name a few. Meanwhile courses that have been open continue to get the cops called on them because “RHEEEE....golf isn’t an essential business, why should you be able to enjoy yourself when I can’t, blah blah”

 

Pretty scary times we are living in when people feel the need to complain to the authorities simply to report people for being outside.

Did you guys get much snow down that way? Up in Greeley I’d guess we got 8” or so.

Talking with a client in Loveland they said it was 8"-10" up there which surprised me as Denver metro only got a 2 or 3 inches and it is already melting off today. If the weekend is warm enough I am sure some rounds could be played around here depending on location.

I think we’ll get most of it melted tomorrow, Sunday is a possibility. Took a while to get started melting today, 13* this morning.

We got 12 inches during this snow storm. Most of it is melted but it will take another day or two before the courses here would be playable. Of course we cannot play.

Just got an email from Foohills/Meadows too. Pretty sure all courses that are walkable will be open soon other than maybe some city courses.

played yesterday, man that wind was tough. A few iron shots I was posing and club twirling for came up 20 yards short.

For those of you in golf leagues....any idea when these will be able to start? If they are considered “social gatherings” I’m worried they may not happen at all this year.

I guess worse case scenario is we just have to do it outside of the golf course being officially involved. But that would be a pain in the butt to manage. That’s also like $20,000 the course would lose in merch sales since all of our winnings are paid out in pro shop credit. I suppose we could just buy gift cards and leave it up to the honor system of people not using them to pay for rounds of golf.

FRGC's first event isn't until May 9. It's at Murphy Creek, which is still closed by the city of Aurora.

As with everything nowadays, "it's a fluid situation."

Although I am grateful courses are open....I don't understand most of them shutting down driving ranges. Seems like driving ranges are safer than playing as practicing is typically a solo affair and, unlike while playing, everyone is hitting balls from a different spot. Oh well, hoping this is all over soon.

I joined Commonground men's club for the first time this year and obviously haven't had a chance to play anything yet. Hopefully they start the events soon and just cut down on the ability to hang out and have a beer after.

I heard some courses may just put dividers up on the range far enough to be compliant. Are they really going to disinfect the range ball each day though? At some point this stuff just isn't sustainable.

I saw Jacob have some interesting back and forth with some crazies on the Denver subreddit who thought that golf courses should all be paved over since they are only for entitled rich elitist A-holes....SMH.

City of Denver is reopening their golf courses tomorrow.

Found out today that Broken Tee cant open Monday-Wednesday next week due to lack of staff who are willing to come into work.

Murphy Creek just told FRGC that our tournament is a no-go for now. Indian Peaks the following weekend is a maybe if we're cool with walking.

Instead of post-tournament beers and payouts, they're looking into payouts via Venmo or something similar.

Aurora courses seem to be most resistant to reopening...at least seems that way to me from the communications I've seen from them. Oh well, hopefully soon enough.

Thorncreek opening Monday with 15 minute tee time gaps. I hope that means the Westminster courses will be sending out a notice about opening next week soon too since they are all under the same tri county health dept.

Racoon Creek is the only range I've heard that is open in the Front Range.

These COVID-19 restrictions are basically my preferred way of playing golf.

Don't show up more than 15 minutes before your tee time? Easy.

Driving range and practice greens closed? No problem.

Walking only? My preferred

No hanging out and socializing after? Great!

Also, hey. I've been MIA for a while. Had a girlfriend and stopped playing golf to spend all my time with her. She's no longer in the picture, so I'm gaining interest in golf again. Hoping I still know how to swing these sticks.

Nice afternoon round at South Suburban yesterday. The greens are a bit rough, but the course is in decent shape. I three-putted a bunch of holes, and lost a few other strokes around the green and on short wedge approaches. What should've been a 38 or 39 turned into a 44. Go me.

Went this morning. Thanks for that, it was much needed as I have been fighting the hooks the last few rounds. Range was in great shape. Will be visiting it again if other courses do not open up.
