Just learned a new golf term, coined by Zinger, on Palmer's and Steele's errant second shots into 18. Palmer's ball "rickershade" off the giant tv screen. Steele's ball "rickershade" off the tents.

Steele is leaking badly down the stretch and in playoff.

Steele has been a hack show the last two holes. Got a lucky break on 18 to get to drop it with a clear shot.

Hitting a spectator gave him a chance to get up and down. And he still hit a poor shot.

Poor guy got iced for 15 minutes waiting to hit his tee shot on 18, then waited another 15 mins before he hit his 2nd shot. That's alot of time to think especially with a 1 shot lead. But still that doesnt explain his airmailing the green with his lob wedge on the playoff hole. ?

I think he felt he had to stuff it inside Smith and adrenaline took over. Yeah, he got put in a pressure vice with the long waits. I preferred Steele to win over Smith. It was a pretty good finish though.

Awesome win by Smith, he hung in there and birdied the last hole when he needed it.

The 2nd shot on the playoff hole was a beauty though, from under the trees in the rough talk about putting pressure on Steele!

But Steele chucked in a "Schauffele" and threw away what seemed a formality.

Watching this tournament and in regulation one guy after the other was trying to hit wedges all the way back to that pin on 10 and every single one of them was ripping them back 30 feet, even after watching their playing partners. I know that's the new style these days but when course conditions dictate that outcome why not, you know, try something different? Whatever happened to the art of chipping an 8 iron on a 110 yd shot? Land that thing on the front third of the green and let it release, spin and check? Worst case is they would probably end up just off the back not deep off the back like Steele. David Toms was a master of that shot.

All i saw was the playoff and I told the wife “ smith wins this “ and she laughed at me when he hit it in the trees. I said “ just wait. Steele will find a way to give this away. Truth is. Smith hit a wonderful recovery and would have drained the putt if he needed to. Steele needed then to hit it to kick in. And he couldn’t.

not saying it was his fault, but palmer should've hit a provisional instead of wasting so much time looking/walking back to hit his 4th on 18 ...

Too bad the pros get the luxury of really perceiving no pressure to hit a provisional in that situation, at least Palmer didn’t. I get it, but I don’t.

Steele was just a slow motion train wreck for awhile there. That big old hook on 18 seemed to have “too much pressure” written all over it - felt bad for him. He was gracious after the round though when asked about things. Hope he is taking the positives away.

and lets be honest the best part of watching pro golf is watching the trainwrecks at the end. Outside of TW and maybe a few others, its almost inevitable.

Felt bad for Brendan, trying to get that shot on the right shelf after Cams shot. Totally different lies and the rough lie actually worked to Cam’s advantage. He gets on and it’s a great shot by default. Steele is expected to hit it tight to answer (adds even more pressure) and picked the wrong shot.

Morikawa 3-putts from 4 feet and in turn loses 110k in prize money, ouch!
