Taylormade CG and weighting with drivers

I've used the majority of Taylormade drivers since 2002 with the 300 series.....starting with SLDR and its weight track, the cg was moved forward and low causing the loft up phenomena.....R15, M1....but with M3 and M5 having hammerhead slots and inverted Y & T tracks , lofts became more useful ....

 

My question, how much weight is shifted by adding these slide tracks behind the face like with new SIM model vs M3 or M5 having inverted tracks? Is it insignificant or more substantial than we're expecting?

There’s going to be a shift, its physics, its just going to be a lot smaller that most visualize. Measured in mm, not cm or inches.

if so inclined, you can search the web for driver CG reports as there is a site that has measured them over the last could years and compared OEM to OEM.

Thank you.....I didn't realize we had access via the internet for that information......I guess the M3 and M5(more stable, higher MOI than M3) provide better launch conditions without being overly spinny or the need for higher stated loft.....understanding manufacturers can manipulate them to fit their marketing....

if you search (driver cg) you can find driver cg data for 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Think sugar cube and you get a visualisation of the absolute maximum movement of the cg.

Thanks, maybe it's not all down to cg placement......M5 has more carbon fiber than previous drivers possibly adding to higher MOI and perimeter stability

Similar item....I just ordered a Cobra F9 Tour Length (44.25in) driver from an on-line retailer with no track as TM but two weighted screws which can be interchanged to affect CG which plays with your launch & spin.

Mine came in full Cobra package/shrink wrap from them wrongly with a 18g + 2g head screw. The stock setup for this is 18 + 6g. Their standard F9 is 14 + 2g. While I am still awaiting Cobra to maybe send me right screw, went with lead tape at way too heavy in the front slot over the the 2g. What a weird and wonky feel that was! I was hitting it low/high and slicing - I haven't been slicing driver for several years having corrected that with my grip.

So, yeh - these adjustable weights on the bottom tracks and/or slots affect CG a tad (mm) but the feel could be way pronounced if overdone for some swings.
