I see the pro package does have club data so I stand corrected there.  Does it require stickers on the club or the ball?

The FSK has an optional subscription for $99 that allows you to store all your sessions and data.

Not only will it provide all the club data the kit provides, it goes beyond to give acceleration profiles, swing planes, and low point.  Who knows how accurately but it’s exciting and definitely easier to measure than spin or spin axis.

The Mevo+ requires stickers on the ball but only in indoor mode.  I’m hesitant to believe the kit will be able to measure spin or spin axis indoors without metallic dots.

Metallic stickers (or RCT ball) needed for indoor use. Nothing needed outdoors. Assuming FSK gets the initial issues ironed out the M+ w pro package should be a direct competitor at $1k less. Has it ever been confirmed that FSK is tracking the entire ball flight outdoors? Rumor is that M+ tracks about 80 yards of flight.

According to Full Swings' patent they were planning for full flight tracking via a frequency modulated continuous wave radar transmission.  In addition to the more traditional non-modulated 24 GHz continuous wave transmission for everything else besides total carry and offline.

Where it's interesting is the FCC released internal pictures and testing results of the Full Swing Kit and it doesn't have frequency modulation.  Well at least at this time.  The internal pictures show (2) 24 GHz transmitters and (4) receivers.  But in the testing process Full Swing stated only 1 transmitter is functional and it's not frequency modulating.  What I assume this means is it's not currently measuring the entire flight, but much more likely something like the 80 yards the Mevo+ tracks.

For a comparison the FCC also published internal photos of the Mevo+ and it has (1) 24 GHz transmitter and (4 receivers), essentially the same hardware at the moment.

If struggling to decide between which device I would go Mevo+ based on price and internal hardware

I just noticed that Scott Hogan posted a YouTube video for the FSK.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyD0RB0mTE0

He's been using the Mevo+ since its introduction, but is still considering buying the FSK. His testing in the video was using a colleague's FSK; very little new actual data or information.

He does indicate that he and the colleague will be doing a head-to-head with Trackman, Mevo+, and FSK in the near future.

So if you want to dig into FCC filings, let's look at the Mevo+. The Mevo+ clearly uses a raspberry pi controller and camera/wifi. This is as cheap as it comes. The FSK uses a NXP processor and a Zynq device from Xilinx (called a field programmable gate array, or programmable hardware). One of these processors is dedicated to the radar and the other for media processing and system control. So to say they have the same hardware is absurd. Like comparing a Ferrari to a Honda.

Would be a shame to buy a Ferrari to have a Honda lapping it right now

With no disrespect meant, this “review” was done indoors and is essentially meaningless. I look forward to further reviews of his done outdoors (or indoors when the product is updated)

I continue to enjoy using my FSK on the outdoor range and I am learning about my dispersion and carry distances in a meaningful manner. I am also using the club data to confirm feels, etc.

I emailed customer service to ask about when the next firmware upgrade would be out, what it is focusing on. I was told for the next Firmware update (coming in a few weeks) the focus will be “overall tighter numbers, spin, angle of attack, club speed, and club path”

Clearly there is some upgraded hardware. The question is what does that upgraded hardware get you?  If the hardware allows actual measurement of spin axis then that is a big deal but that seems a very difficult thing to do. FSK would be the first radar to do it! It is concerning that to date it has struggled with just getting accurate spin  - outside with full flight.  Whatever other advantages FSK has over M+ (accuracy currently not one of them), IMO the only thing that will differentiate it from or justify the increase cost compared to other radar units is its ability to measure spin axis directly.  Short of that I personally would not part ways with my M+ for an on board display, full flight tracking and self leveling for $1k more.

I would hope that the better hardware in the FSK allows for better firmware updates. My knowledge of the engineering is pretty much nil, so someone with more expertise would need to weigh in on the effect of superior hardware on the ability to make advanced firmware updates.

Yeah agree. For his comments of kit, he mentioned that with higher speed, the KIT is off to trackman in term of yardage accuracy (which is super important basic data) and the consistency is off too.

Probably due to indoor testing, but any users here would share the view on this point?

To be honest, He is like brand embassador to the M+, so need more of the testers coming up reviewing it.

We'd all like to see a lot more testing of course, and he's made a decent effort to test what he can getting 3 radars working together.

He does focus very much on the LM ie ball flight side of things, not to bore on about it but for me extrapolating driver carry to the nth degree and arguing which extrapolation is accurate is kind of tedious.

My teacher has recently focused me on my club data, particularly angle of attack and path. This is where I'd really like to see FSK against Quad, there was a decent comparison video of R10 and quad and the club data looked pretty decent and consistent tbh.

And maybe the lack of indoor implementation is less critical for club data I would imagine. The easy to read, customisable screens, and robust construction still very much have my attention.

But a rushed launch due to GC3 I'm sure.

Just an update on how the FSK is translating in to real results. Over the weekend worked with the FSK on a 58 degree wedge, about chest high, dead-weight (not too much speed) and I concluded by the monitor averages that this is a perfect 50 yard shot for me with a distribution ever so slightly to the left of my target line.  I just so happened to have a few shots in this range when I played yesterday--trusted the data I have gathered with my FSK and this shot was spot on. Playing partners commented on how dialed in I was.

Also, using the cumulative data for my other clubs, I am no longer chronically short on approaches and using my dispersion pattern data to pick appropriate targets.

I feel that is the strength of any personal launch monitor

If anyone has some discount or referral I’d be interested! I’m on fence but I like the data and reviews from what I’ve seen. Still kinks to work out but long run I think they’ll get their software and bugs worked out. I like the idea of the WIP launch, they’re moving in the right direction and a fourth of the cost of a trackman.

  • 2 weeks later...

Had a great practice session yesterday with the FSK focusing on getting my path more to the right and face angle right. but slightly closed to my path (creating a draw ball flight)

The numbers were dead-on, or at least good enough to really help me engrain different feels to get the result I was looking for.

This was so far superior to a practice session where,, in the past, I'd just be banging balls and trying to feel my way to the result I'm looking for.

Still very happy and excited about this product.

The indoor beta modes are out for net and screen in the app now. It also slows down the video playback which is really nice and let’s you use screen pinching when you are setting the alignment with the phone.

My kit is downloading the updates as I type this . Will give her a spin tomorrow to see how the update works.
