Trying to decided between mevo + (with PP and FI) or FSK (especially if I can get the FSK at the same price on secondary market). 

No flight path or any skills.  TBH I don't feel like I am missing anything with flight path on the app since I can see the ball/club/spin numbers.  I do wish they had a "combine" style skills challenges like "Hit it to 150" and you get points for how close you get.  I just do it myself in my head for now.  Since I use this 80% of the time on the range or on the course these things don't bother me.  Now if I was in a net and wanting "visual" confirmation with a sim app I would not be happy. 

Months ago my choice came down between the Mevo+, BLP, and FSK.   I honestly think that when you weigh the pro/con of all three they are all equal for all around use.  If I was heavy leaning towards SIM play I would have gone BLP.   Between the Mevo+ and FSK there is a price difference of 1k+ for like for like features (depending on the sales you run across).  I got the FSK because of a Christmas price of 3,500 and because I like that it self levels and assumed it would be less fiddling with on the range and while playing (if I wanted to record shots on the course).  On paper the FSK has better hardware but that means jack if features you need are missing. 

I don't have any regrets going with the FSK but in all honestly the Mevo+ would have met my needs and then some.  I'm sure you will be happy either way

Anyone know anything regarding what Full Swing plans on doing with the Kit in the immediate future? Seems like they haven't released a firmware update since March. There are still some stuff that are listed as "coming soon" on the app...

Funny you ask…I just reached out today because they’ve told me several times since 2023 that Range Ball Normalization is “on the roadmap”.  Guess what today’s reply was??? They “can confirm” that they are working on it but do not have any release dates they can share.

It's been mentioned by them that they are working on it but it's not as easy as people think it is. Give them time! With the TGL starting in January, and using Full Swing simulators, I'd imagine they've been focused on getting their simulators and other products ready for a big push at the beginning of the year.

Yeah, I'd just appreciate some updates. I still like my unit, it gives good data, but if I were to make the choice right now, I think I'd go with the Mevo+ with all the add-ons.

I’ve had a similar experience - was told (even when I was in the original return window; bought it right when it came out) that it was in development and seemingly right around the corner.  Since then typically no response from @FullSwingSimulators and when I did get one, it was “they’re working on it”.  I personally have come to the conclusion that the unit just doesn’t have the technical capabilities to make normalization happen, as they would have by now if they could.

Yep.  They are painfully slow and obviously have issues with these upgrades. Whether it's having the right people or not being well funded it's a problem

Full Swing are owned by Bruin Capital, a very well-connected sports investment company. My guess is right now they are running around with their hair on fire trying to make sure everything works properly for the launch of the TGL sim golf league, for which they are the key tech provider.

 

The guy behind Bruin used to be a top dog at IMG and I think the TLDR version of the Full Swing story is the endorsements/ marketing/partnerships got a little ahead of the actual product development.

The issue I would have for outdoor use is that, at least as far as I understand it, the FSK has a bigger hitting area, so less adjustment and fine tuning in terms of setup, which for me would be a big deal. ymmv

I haven’t had any issue with setup. If you just align the center of the unit - not the camera - down your target line, the angle readings are spot on. My sole complaint is that without range ball normalization, you can’t use it for dialing in the finer details of wedge distances, which is the benefit for me of having a unit at your practice sessions. But otherwise readings are accurate and it’s good for comparisons and fittings.

Fair enough- Never used the Mevo+, but just looking at features, it seems it outcompetes the FSK. Impact location, ability to see ballflight, better looking app, and more numbers than the FSK. Cheaper new, too.

I know who's behind them but that doesn't necessarily mean they are putting capital into the product.  I hope they sort it out because it's been years since they released it.  I actually met with the main engineer behind the product 2 years ago.  All sorts of promises made and grandiose claims meanwhile none of them came to fruition.  Not a good sign.   Maybe the TGL thing will boost FSK's stock and things will ramp up.  Time will tell I guess.

I got to try out the Full Swing overhead optical launch monitor today. This feels like their main focus going forward, in partnership with Back Nine Golf, a fast-growing indoor golf franchise that has gone from one to 100 signed-up locations in about three years.

 

The software is a bit primitive compared to the TrackMan suite, but the numbers are bang on. I've hit enough balls in sims to know how far they go. Course play is slightly more video gamey, but very immediate with no lag. Putting is better than the competition.

I never knew that the FSK has ball flight on a range (BETA version) until this AM. My E6 subscription ran out. 

 

The "range" is a nice feature it just needs a couple tweaks to make it great. 

 

1) Needs a centerline and some form of yardage on the range.

2) needs to be able to be offset to the offset from center screen so that the FSK alignment, matches the ball alignment to center range. I.e. my FSK is offset to the hitting strip in my sim room.

 

But I enjoyed using it a little bit this AM. So by scrolling you can get 6 information pieces along the side of the screen, plus the 4 items on the FSK screen, plus the ball flight. Then walk back to the ipad and hit "play" to watch your swing in slo mo, that is 12 information outputs within a few seconds. Pretty good for a practice session.
