Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero

Being the club ho that I am, I decided to pick up the Callaway Epic Flash Sub Zero driver, even though I have a Titleist TS2 and TS3 and hit them well :)

In the TS2, I have a KuroKage silver shaft and in the TS3, I have the HZRDUS Smoke Black. I have the Tensei Blue shaft, but I am not consistent with it due to an aggressive transition.

So, I got the EFSZ with the Smoke Black shaft, and I tried the Tensei Blue with the same results as with the TS3. I also got the HZRDUS Smoke Yellow for the EFSZ.

The standard weights are 2g front and 12g slider. I messed with a 6g front weight and a 16g slider and neither worked well in any combo. I forgot to test changing the loft to +1 or +2.

The question I have is - has anyone done some shaft, weight or loft testing with this driver, and if you have, what did you find out? I am going to play tomorrow and will test out the SZ on the course, and I am hoping to hit the SZ with +1 or +2 before the round. My TS3 is one loft up and all the heads are 10.5º

Nothing like replying to your own post, but so be it :)

Played today with the EFSZ. It was 30º with a 7mph wind so I had layers on. I was there before dawn and I started hitting balls as soon as it was light enough to see things. I hit the SN setting to get a baseline, and was not hitting it that well. Then I went +1N and +2N - was not conclusive but I went with +2N, but about ⅔ of the way through the round I changed to +1N for kicks because the +2N just looked too closed - I like a very open face look.

The +1N turned out to be the bomb - I piped 3 drives down the middle of the fairway with a nice trajectory. In this setting the EFSZ is very similar to my TS3, but the Callaway has a super hot spot in the middle - you can hear it.

The driver is a keeper IMO

The epic flash sub zero is my gamer, i increased head weight to 204 grams play my 9 degree head at -1 upright. I use the yellow hazardous 76 6.5 and this driver hits bombs. Will continue to have this as my gamer dont sleep on the 3 and 5 woods either they are legit!!!!

I have tensei pro white and pro blue in my fairways I have not hit anything longer or more forgiving. I have a new pro white 70tx you could put in it lol

Did you settle on the Smoke or Smoke Yellow?

I play the Epic Flash Sub Zero with the Hzrdus Yellow handcrafted. I go back and forth with the settings but currently have mine at +1 and N (9 degree Head)

I really love the club. Some complained about the sound but it doesn’t bother me at all. I played the Epic before it and struggled knowing where I was hitting it in the face for some reason. My miss is high toe and not sure it’s the most forgiving from that spot but nothing that would make me discouraged.

So far I have the Smoke in there. The Yellow changes the weighting due to the counterbalance distribution. If I went with the Yellow, I would need to add head-weight to even out the feel for me, or at least hit more balls to try and figure it out. On first impressions the Smoke just stayed with my transition way better, but more testing is needed.

I like the sound as well - when you nut it, everyone knows it.

Old thread I realize, but curious how you distributed the weight between the sliders and the front? Or hot metal, tape, etc.?
