Working through some feels tonight and things were feeling pretty squishy before the ball finally gave up.

It's all fun and games until the head flies off of your 7 iron! Turns out the Mevo+ even reads data when the club explodes at impact. Hard to tell if it was the ball or club head that flew that far. Now the grand debate....fix the 7 iron and continue on with the 11 year old Adam's CMBs, or upgrade to something new. Any suggestions?

Just about finished with my budget simulator build. I hung the impact screen, ran wires, hid HDMI through the walls and got some foam tiles up for ceiling and wall protection. All in time to catch the end of the golf.....I was pulling for Nick Taylor obviously. I still need to rig up a side ccurtain on the left to block light from the screen and I need to build a foam barrier at the bottom of the screen to stop balls from hitting the bar on the bottom of the screen.

I added some cheap berber carpet to the home simulator. Also....the answer to the broken 7 iron was new irons. Team Srixon for the win. So far the 7 iron appears to be a rocket launcher! Can't wait for spring.

Very nice setup! Do you buy the new set or did Srixon help you out? I just got a Mevo+ w/PP and it is very impressive. I was one the range today optimizing my driver--very cool tech.

I bought this set new online, (last year's model).  I saved about $600CAD this way over buying this years ZX7 Mark II model.  I wanted the Modus 3 105g shaft but couldn't find them so settled for the Modus 3 120g.  I don't generate a lot of spin so I'll have to find a swing that helps me launch the long irons a bit higher.  I just hit through my whole bag though on the Mevo+ so I'm guessing tomorrow I'll be a little sore and tired.  I also need to decide if I want to get this set bent 2 degrees flat like my old irons but I'll wait until I see some shots outdoors to confirm shot shapes before I decide.  The Mevo+ has been great apart from some wonky things happening on the odd shot since the last update and since I added my projector.  I contacted FS Support and they asked for a photo of my set up and some raw data which actually captured my issue, (random ball flights occasionally, like shots that balloon over 200 feet high and the odd wedge that turns into a hook with 300 yards of carry).  They messaged back and told me there would be an app update today or tomorrow that should fix the issues.  Part of me also wonders if my projector is interfering with the radar which I can fix by shielding it in copper mesh if I have to.

 

I do need to get the mevo outside to calibrate my driver settings.  I don't have a lot of room in my office so generally stay away from fairway woods and driver indoors.

Here is some club and ball data from my testing tonight with my new ZX7 irons.  I'll start a more comprehensive test over several days so I can get a better data set without wearing myself out.  Tonight was about 10-15 shots with each club.  I love the results so far but might look at changing the 4 and 5 iron to improve the gapping at that end of the bag.  Thinking I need to increase my launch angle to improve the carry distance. (Perhaps swap those clubs with the ZX5 versions?)

Interesting data. What ball are you using? I have my Apex 19 bent weak between 1-2º to help improve gapping and ball flight issues (they are pretty low spinning irons).

I am using the Pro V1x RCT balls in my simulator.  Perhaps I could look for something with a bit more spin but it is the higher spinning ball of the two Pro V1 options.  One thing I haven't done yet is have my clubs bent flat as I was waiting to see outdoor ball flights before I decide to go that route. My CMBs were 2 degrees flat.  This could have an effect on my launch angle as well.

Your launch angles look ok to me.  I think you're losing carry on long irons due to spin.  The peak height looks pretty good to me, but you still have room to weaken the lofts.  My Mizuno MP20's are: 46° PW, 42° 9 iron, 38° 8 iron, 34° 7 iron, 30° 6 iron, 27° 5 iron, 24° 4 iron .  This progression might work better.

 

I don't think you'll get enough out of just a ball change, as the ProV1x is already a higher spinner.  If the weaker lofts don't work, you'll probably have to look at your shafts.  Thanks for sharing the journey with your green and indoor setup.  I've certainly enjoyed it.

Good point.  I didn't think of weakening the lofts in the long irons.  It's a bit counter-intuitive.  Weaken the lofts in an attempt to carry the ball further.

Someone else beat me to it but you need more height and spin on the longer irons.  Also nice setup you've got.

I did exactly this with my 3W.  My fitter went from 15° to 16.5°.  I gained approximately 20 feet of height, 500rpm spin, and 15 yards carry.  Same club, just more loft.  Total distance was about the same, but I now have the ability to hold a green.

Well, winter has reared it's head again in my part of the world but I'm really enjoying the indoor set up and Mevo+.  Here is a video of a 7 iron swing tonight along with a screen capture of the ball and club data.  I'm sure I'm doing lots of things wrong, but my goal this year is to not get caught up in swing tips but rather to just play.  If it goes off the rails, hit the range and dig something out.  I'm not disappointed with the way this swing looks.

One other thing that occurred to me is that you should see some higher spin out on the course.  Mats can lower spin.  Depending on your mat you might be getting a bit high on the face, dropping spin, basically seeing flyers.  I'd take the mevo to some nice grass....I'm sure you'll be able to find some....and see how your numbers change.

Nice! Mine is still under snow at the moment. It spent more time without this year though. What a strange winter we had. A few weeks ago it looked good, no mold so I expect it should come out well. This morning I took my reel to my greens keeping friend for a grind.  All set for spring!

Well, after two previous attempts I finally got a full day on the grounds at Augusta yesterday. I took a million pictures and even snagged another gnome. Here are some highlights.

If you are ever in Aiken SC, go play The Aiken Golf Club. It might be the best course you've never heard of and most likely the longest 5700yds you've ever played. When you are finished, grab a few beers and take a run at the putting course....it's fun, even for grown men!
