Anyone here shoot Fuji X series systems? I'm very much on the fence between that and a Nikon Z6. Fuji checks a lot of nostalgic boxes, is smaller / more portable, looks like great colors but has a crop sensor. Nikon is FF but bigger and very modern - not how much fun it would be to lug it around. Just curious on those who have experienced one or both.

I own the X-T3 and it’s awesome. Fuji just opened up their lens mount to third parties so you will have more options in addition to Fuji lenses, which are incredible.

The new X-T4 is similar but now has stabilization and an even faster burst rate: 15fps with the mechanical shutter.

in this new remote work age, there is now an app to use your Fuji camera as a webcam...for free.

I don't know for sure. The Fuji will definitely be lighter and faster lenses will be smaller overall.

Are there options to rent the cameras for a test?

Yeah you can rent - but it's not cheap. The whole camera game is quite pricey. Would cost me $300-400 or so to try both out for a week which is a fairly large sunk cost. I'd I really can't decide I may.

The XT4 adds just a little size but is around 2.5 oz heavier than xt3, then the z6 is 2.5oz heavier than xt4 and a bit bigger yet. The lenses are where you really save weight where the Fuji are lighter and smaller.

There's no doubt that the heavier full frame setup can put out better specs I'm trying to decide which is more fun to shoot with. Definitely heavily leaning Fuji.

Your needs or tastes may demand a full frame sensor, but plenty of professionals and/or fine art photographers put out stunning images without. Heck, so do tons of us “ordinary” folks. Always buy what you want and what matches your intended use but it’s easy to get seduced by certain features and “specs” whether it’s cameras or handguns or even blenders.

I'm gonna be "that guy" and tell you wait and see what the Canon R6 turns out to be like, and also question why you're not looking at Sony, which has been annihilating the mirrorless market of late. I like the look and idea of the Fuji X's though. Nikon doesn't seem to have their act together AT ALL for their Z mount lens offerings though. Between the Fuji X and Nikon Z I'd go for the Fuji

This is both Canon and Nikon's first dip into the mirrorless market. I would wait on those 2, if only because their next few steps should better their last by a pretty good margin. That said, it seems like all are updating with older/leftover parts, but making advances in the processing of the image.

I would go smaller rather than larger. I have had them all, still use MF film cameras and they are an anchor in almost all scenarios. My Nikon D800 is also a burden to carry all day. It is exhausting. Granted, I do not do this every day, but I probably pack 20 lbs of just camera gear - lenses, batteries, tripod, filters, etc. and the padded backpack weighs about as much. If I also take my Hasselblad,, no way,, I begin to look for excuses.

I really dig the Sony's. Ain't cheap, but they are just a fab kit. Fuji is also making really hard to choose - Xt3 and Xt4. And if you want to go more OG, Olympus has one of the better smaller cameras with the OM-D, amazing colors, and arguably the best image stabilization on the market right now.

If I din't have a ton of Nikon lenses I would have already jumped ship. I guess I am waiting for the Z line to come out of the cave...

Unless you intend to shoot video or handheld in low light without stabilized lenses, then X-T3 is definitely the way to go. Save the money and buy more prime lenses!

I own the X-T3 and no regrets. The colors are so good out of camera that I haven’t even felt the need to do any editing. I have yet to add to my first lens on the system but the 35mm f2 is built as good or better than any lens I’ve handled. I never knew I needed aperture rings in my life but it’s so satisfying.
