Looking at a set of 4 through PW.

I play a set of Hogan Apex Grinds, 2i through PW

What are the lofts of the 57's? One club stronger than I am use to?

I really love my 2i, would that be similar to the 3i?

Also what loft wedges would I need to add? Have a 52, 54, 56, 58 at my disposal, a 48 maybe?

What should one expect to pay for a set that has only seen 5 rounds? Nippon shafts I think?

Will they have that nice sharp toe i love?

It's a couple hour drive and i don't want to waste my time or the sellers.

Lofts are 47, 42, 38, 34, 30, 27, 24, 21 for P-3.

The lofts you need for wedges, that's a very personal topic. Some basic thoughts:

Until the pitching wedges strengthened to the 44/45 range in the past few years, people often (not always) had two more wedges [not counting the PW]...54 and 60, or 53 and 59, for example.With a 44 or 45 now, the gap is so large to the 53 or 54, that some people move to a 52, 56 and 60, for example. Seems like around half the PGA players do this -- I might not be correct on that stat. But they really need to be dialed in with those distances, and need the third wedge.IF you do that, you need to drop a club, to stay within the 14 club limit.

If you have a driver, 3 wood, 5 wood and hybrid, you might drop the 5 wood. (If you really love a 2 iron -- and can hit it well -- you might not have that issue).

Or, you might drop your longest iron, a 3 or 4.

Also, what comes into play is ***your ability to "take off" from a club,*** ie hit it 3/4 the distance. If you can do that, you might not need to add that third wedge.

It all gets down to HOW TO AVOID A LARGE "GAP," where you have 15 or more yards between two particular clubs.

Some personal preference factors: three wedges (four when you count the PW) is just a lot of wedges. Hard to be an expert in all of them. Until the advent of the 60 degree wedge, people (including pro's) just had two wedges and they did fine -- a pitching wedge of 49 or 50 degrees and a 56 degree.

Just curious, are you considering Miura wedges? I use them, find them excellent (lots of people on GolfWRX play them). No need to have "matching" brand wedges, just curious.

Only play a driver and a 3 wood, honestly the 3 is seldom used. I prefer grabbing a long iron over a fairway wood, not a huge fan of hybrids as I have a tendency to always hook them. Realistically I would need to add a 3i to the set.

I don't always carry all my wedges, depends on where i play. My wedges are almost all SM8's

I am not a go for the green in two par 5 kind of guy, actually prefer a long iron and let it run up.

Hit a lot of 2i off the tee when length is not nearly as important as hitting my spot.
