Compass Golf putters

Does anyone have any experience with this company? I found them on Instagram and they have some good looking putters. I'm wanting to get a custom flow neck putter and they have caught my eye.

Currently working with him to get a custom one done. He's easy to work with, although this is more of a side gig for him and his responses can be a little lagged at times.

No, basically it was a replica of Speith's 009.

I would love to see pictures also, I want the 009 replica as well but with a flow neck and welded to the head. I'm hoping to hear back from him soon. Thanks for the responses and please share any pictures if you have any.

Here's some samples to share. I had him make the topline thinner, a more pronounced trisole, and made it look similar to one from strokes gained.

I recently got mine in, think he did a fantastic job on it. Built on the 009 model with a welded flow neck. I wanted it simple but also unique with the stamping in the cavity along with the cherry dot. Couldn't be happier with the way it turned out.

Wanted to revive this thread, just found compass on instagram and really like his anser 2 style shape. How have those that have had a putter built by him like them over time and how do they feel?

Do you have pics of it? Ive been interested in doing the same thing to match Spieth's 009 but in lefty.  How's the feel?  Ive also been debating Bryon Morgan who has a bit more of a track record but is a bit more in price.

I believe @Z1ggy16 had one made or is having one made. I'm interested in his work as well especially for his price and what he can do. Will look into if he can do a lefty T2.

Yeah mine's finished up (I've been told) and I should get it literally any day now...

 

Idk what others experiences are but the one downside with a lot of 1 man operations is they tend to be terrible with communication. I didn't even get told it was finished, I emailed him after 4 weeks to ask for status and he said it was done. No tracking or any kind or, "Hey I've shipped it" email but hey... I guess beggars can't be choosers...

 

If the putter looks awesome, I plan to order a few more. I really want a 3 Step JAM and I also want a NP2 with a slant/flow neck.

Yeah that's kind of the downfall with communication and one man operations, so much to do and so little time. Hopefully it turns out the way you hoped and if really nice I might start communication on a build myself.

Yeah and I get it, he's got a family and probably a big backlog of orders but I'm an eBay seller and I always have time to input tracking. It just gives people the piece of mind that they are a valued customer and doesn't leave them in the dark. It's been a week since I heard from him, so if the putter doesn't show up after another week, I'll have to reach out again.

 

A bit annoying but I'd much rather have exactly what I want and go through a few hoops than get something less than what I paid for. Comes with the custom territory I think.

I get that as well, when I sell stuff even if I'm super busy with work people get tracking and packages shipped ASAP.

Here's the finished piece. It came out as like a kind of slate/dark grey/brown finish. I technically asked for a "black oxide" but this might actually be more unique and cool.

Finish aside how is the fit/finish, the feel? Was it built to your specs and expectations?

Thank you. Yeah it's not like the midnight black like I wanted... Although I'm pretty sure he can do it, because his IG page shows a custom he did which is a very dark black color. I attached that photo and told him to match it. Either way, I still think this is unique and cool looking.

Yes that's his website. There's lots of clones of that design though and I'm guessing any design patents are long expired.

So I rolled it finally and here's my thoughts:

 

Fit/finish - Amazing. Even though it's not a black oxide finish (he told me after that he can only do this currently on non stainless heads) it basically looks black down by the ball. I love the fact he left the weld bead on.

 

Feel - I'd say out of 1-10 where 1 is mush and 10 is rock hard, this is a 7. It depends on the ball you use, which I'd say would change my rating by 1 (-1 for a soft ball +1 for a really firm ball). It's a nice pleasant 'tock' and I know exactly where I've hit it. Firmer than my Cleveland SOFT putter for sure which has a very deep mill. This milling is somewhere between shallow and medium.

 

Specs - I don't have a loft and lie machine but taking my normal stance and grip, it sits flush which means he got the lie angle right. Length seems correct as I compare it to my other 34'' putter.

 

Expectations - Exceeded. For ~$400 I got a 100% customized putter that IMO looks as good if not better than any other custom that would cost you 2 or even 3x as much. It's simply and to the point, but has just a bit of character that says this belongs to me. Even got a head cover with it which is high quality.

 

I plan to order more from him.

Sounds like all positives and that you're happy with the end results which is always good to hear. I'm thinking about messaging him somewhat soon and seeing if he can do a Timeless 2 style with a flow or slant neck. I can't afford the 5k for a Scotty but $400 for something close, why not.

Pretty certain he can, because I asked if he is able to do other necks and he said yes.

Yeah I'd def send over reference pics and be really specific. I plan to do another timeless with a slant or flow neck and then probably a 3 step jam. Might ask him to try out a deeper milling pattern if he can.

My heavy tri sole should be here next week.  I really like the bumpers and his different face millings, excited to roll this thing.

Was referring to the tri sole profiling being more pronounced not the head-weight.  All my putters are between 335-355 on head-weight.
