DVS as a custom option

Hey guys. I'm a fan of Aldila's shaft offerings and I've been excited to try out their DVS ever since I caught wind of it on here. I know it's been released by Aldila, but do you guys know if any manufacturers have started offering it as a custom option? Or if any of the new drivers are going to be offering it? I want to see if I like it, it sounds right up my alley, but I dont have a head to throw it into. Plus I'm in the market for a new driver anyways, so I was just curious as to where I might be able to get one with a DVS in it so I wouldnt have to reshaft.

new Tour Edge Exotics driver will have it as a stock option...not sur sure of the name off top of my head, but it's the more traditional looking head, not the big triangle one.

Did you ever consider calling ping? ;-)

the tour edge offering with the dvs is the exotics xcg. just received mine but have been unable to hit it due to the weather.

I believe it will be offered as stock on the new Macgregor driver.

I inquired today with Ping as its listed as a WRX option. I can't believe how much extra it is to have that shaft. A standard stock G10 sets you back about £155 but to have the DVS fitted it'll cost you £193. That means to joe customer the club would retail at £298 with the DVS shaft in it.

 

I may order one to replace my 907D1 with VS Proto. I currently us the 65X shaft but have heard the DVS plays stiffer so wouldn't know if I'd need to drop to the 60S option instead of having the 60X.

I'd love to try a 907D2 with the 65x DVS if it is indeed a no-upcharge shaft.....

Callaway iMix will offer it...then will be available late summer for all Callaway Drivers.

... You cannot have an "equal" unless the design parameters are equal. The DVS has a much stiffer butt section but a softer tip section than the VS Proto. So you are comparing two different shafts. If a Pro-launch and Blue have the same flex, they will still perform quite differently for a smooth swinger or a hard hitter. Having said that, The VS Proto and DVS should play to flex. The DVS may "feel" a hair stiffer, but imo, it plays to about the same flex. It is more of a tweaking of the VS Proto to achieve a little different ball flight and feel, than it is a completely different shaft. The DVS will give you a slightly higher launch with a little more spin.

Well as long as the changes to the DVS balance out and it plays very similar to the VS Proto in overall flex terms that'll be quite good. Means I still need to get the X Flex shaft. I did kind of think to myself that if they made the butt stiffer but the tip softer it would balance out to be about the same.

 

Still got to decide now whether I think £193 is too much to spend on a driver. Also determining what loft to get as with the G10 it'll be either 9° or 10.5°. I know the Ping's tend to launch high anyway but can't really say I know the tendency for the Titleist do they tend to launch lower then normal? I think a G10 9° with DVS shaft would launch a lot higher then the 907D1 I have and hopefully that would give me a few extra yards in distance.
