Monte Clinic Chicago 2020

My son and I just got back from the Chicago Clinic with Monte and 7 other players. I just wanted to let those guys know that I enjoyed meeting them. Mark is a top notch host and did a great job. Super guy. All of the folks were super nice and we had a blast.

Monte as usual did not disappoint. He and I worked pretty hard on some big changes to alleviate the stress I put on my back with my old swing. It is going to take some work, but I should be able to get it down soon. It feels a million times better and I can keep it in front of me better too. My son really hasn't played much until this year and Monte has his swing looking like a golf swing now. He couldn't be more excited to play.

I had bought Monte's short game videos years ago and tried to use his method more than once and frankly failed each time. Having him demonstrate and show me in person how to use his technique was worth the price of admission. I love hitting it higher and softer now. He also spotted something in my putting that really helped a ton. And don't get me started on the bunker stuff, now I can hit it high and soft versus my old method which worked well but left me searching when I was really short sided down hill. The best part, all of it is easy to do really too.

So thanks Monte for working so hard for three days, and thanks to the wrx'ers that I met for making it a fun three days.

Nice recap Heath - really enjoyed meeting you and Beau and getting to hit it with you guys. And it really was a good group overall.

Hope it's not the last time we'll get a chance to tee it up together. (And tell Beau we'll be watching for his exploits on the gridiron this year - hopefully they get to play). Was fun watching you two pound it off the tee -just the sound was impressive!

Keep up the good work. If you ever find yourself up this way again let's get together. Play well!

Was great teeing it up with you guys. Was a fantastic group of folks this past weekend and although this isn’t my first rodeo with Monte, every year I leave with something different that refocuses me.

I’ve been going for over 5 years now, and Monte has lowered my handicap from a 12 to a 1.8. The next stage to scratch can be a long one, but we talked a lot about changing how I synchronize my swing, competition strategy, and course/shot management throughout the weekend and especially on the playing lesson on Monday.

Can’t say enough positive things about the clinics and having Monte’s eyes on you over a stretch of time as you’re working hard to implement changes.

@Precis1on I don't know where you and Monte found 10 shots to shave from that beautiful swing. But congratulations!

Look, so the guys a good instructor, we can all agree on that. But come on now, an instructor is only as good as his students. And what a coincidence- I just had the best ball striking session of my life tonight after this past weekends' fun and games.

So while sure - Monte's all that and more, but how about a little credit to those of us who make him look good!!

I didn't make the clinic but Monte squeezed myself and two friends in before the clinic started Monday. So if he seemed tired Monday, it was my fault.

It was nice to meet you all.

After doing online lessons and the improvement plan, it was great to finally be able to do some work in person with Monte.

I think Monte would sum a lot of it up as fixing (and continued fixing) of the space six inches between my ears.

Pretty sure Monte's adjustments to my alignment in the sand was 100% the reason why I drained that shot.

Like I was saying, sure he's a good instructor and all that.  Actually he's damn good.  Almost a miracle worker some might say....

 

Thanks Monte - things seem to be working.  At least they did today!
