new Diamana Ali'Islei shaft

does anyone have any experience or know anything about the new Diamana Ali'Islei shaft that is a japanese model and is supposed to play between a blue and white board with new technology?

I haven't taken the plunge yet, but I dropped into a local shop that does quite a few 'premium' shaft installs and they were really liking the shaft. The construction and feel are different than the Blueboard/Whiteboard; it is supposed to be more of a smooth/solid feel, but a few people have said they didn't 'feel' the kick as much. Customer's on course impressions were that the shaft was quite accurate, not necessarily the longest shaft they ever hit, but very consistant. I don't think the shaft is designed to replace the Whiteboard though, as it has a softer tip (than the White) and probably generates a bit more spin.

Anyone with some personal experiences yet?

Ah-lee-e's-lay. It is Hawaiian. Ali'i means chief or royalty in hawaiian. A lei is a flower nekalce. So Ali'islei is the chiefs lei.

OK, why would you hang a name no one will know how to provounce on a shaft when all it really means is a chief's flower necklace?

So where is it compared to the JavlynFX? What are the shaft characteristics of each?

per Mitsubishi's rep at the PGA show, the Javeln is right between a Blueboard and a Whiteboard. Basically merge the characteristics and that is the Javeln (no y in the shaft's name). It is also going to be Mitsubishi's first graphite iron shafts. Good feel with a nice little kick in it. I really liked them when I hit them.

No idea on the flower necklace shaft's characteristics. It could be that they renamed it to the Javln if the flower necklace shaft was supposed to be a blue/whiteboard mix.

The shaft you are describing sounds more like the U.S. new series...Javelyn. I talked with Diamana reps at the PGA Demo Day and asked specifically about the AliIslei and was told it is purely a Japanese release, not USA....softer, higher torque, low kick, high launch, high spin. Designed specifically for Asian customer base.

I think part of the reason that they named it Alii's lei is that the Japanese versions of the Diamana shafts feature a flower band below the grip. So that is the reference to the flower necklaces. At least it that is what I think.

Why can't you pronounce it, the name doesn't use any foreign characters? You can pronounce NV right.

Ask 100 non-Hawaiian Americans how to pronounce Ali'Islei and I guarantee 98 of them will have no idea. It's just odd marketing. Marketing rule #1 is don't name a product that is unpronouncable by the public.

IMHO, its a JDM shaft and not intentionally marketed to Americans. Japan and Hawaii have very close ties. I wouldn't be surprised if more Japanese knew how to pronounce it than Americans.

Considering in Japan, the Whiteboard, Blueboard and Redboard are not called those names ...I'm sure the Americans will just call it something else once they get more well known. By the way..there's also no "L" in the Japanese language.
