These are the numbers I was thinking. Anything higher is terrible boring golf to watch. They have to have some scoring opportunities. You have to have to have a few round under par each day.

It will be interesting because it is unlikely all rounds will finish day 1 and day 2. I believe they aid the last tee times are at 2:30pm. On the PGA Tour 5 hours of daylight isn't enough. So on Saturday do they go 3's on 1 and 10  to get caught up?

 

This may be a bombers course. The top guys hit about 70% of the fairways (10 taking out the 3's). Guys like DJ, Shampoo, Woodland and Rahm are around 60% (8) I'd rather take DJ at  from the rough 2 extra times than Brendon Todd and almost 30 yards longer.

I hope the course is absolute evil.  Speaking personally, I find it very entertaining to watch the top players do battle under scoring conditions that are on the ragged edge.  There's something about watching how they respond and deal with constant adversity that I find very compelling.

Gets dark before 7:00pm this time of year in NYC area. Tee times as late as 2:30 insures they won't get it all in.

That's basically what ogilvey did....got hot with the wedge last two holes. Chipped in on 17, nice up and down little pitch on 18 that no one else seemed to have made

I remember going on that Saturday. Place was emptied out of spectators because tiger missed the cut. Phil looked fat and out of shape. Followed adam scott a bit too. He was like 8 back and out of it. No gallery except a few groupies. His caddie pointed out carry over a bunker off the tee was 285, and he brushed him off like "don't bother me with hazards that aren't in play"

No. All greens were enlarged back to their original size. All the bunkers were redone and many trees removed. Sub air system added. A few new back tees. Good article on it.

I watched the '74 Open and it was brutal.  I hope this year matches those conditions, just to see the difference in eras.  The winner is going to have a very good driving week, or he will have a bad week.  If DJ could get 10 fw's every day, he will be hard to beat.

I know distance is all the rage, but on this course it seems like accuracy would be a premium. If you can combine both, great, but I would think the first item on the agenda is get the ball in the fairway off the tee.

TW has a good shot at it. He's working hard, hitting practice early, making sure he will be in contention. IMHO TW at 28-1 is almost free money, I would bet the house on it.
