Ping Eye 2 is the undisputed king...that can't even be denied.

Im shocked that only 1 person voted for the Lynx Parallax.

For myself...the 3 best I've ever played in order are...

1) Ping Eye 2

2)Lynx Parallax

3)845 Silver Scot

The Worst...

1. Lynx Black Cat O-Size.  Absolutely terrible shovels with zero distance control or feel

2. Tommy Armour Ti-100.  The size of a fairway wood and harder to hit than a Nun during Holy Week

3. Prince Thundersticks.  Everything was the size of a 6 iron...a terrible 6 iron.

Driver: Ping G20

Fairway Woods: Titleist PT 15 and 20

Irons: Mizuno MP-32 3-PW

Wedges: Cleveland 588 53, 56

Putter: Ping Anser 2

Ball: K-Sig

Bag: Ping L8

Relax, have fun, and enjoy every moment.  Golf is the greatest game on earth.

Surprised not to see the TA3 form forged mentioned, at least for the best Cleveland irons. Loved the look and found them to be a great tweener set if you weren’t ready for true blades. Had them in the bag for quite a while as did a some high school and college buddies.

Another vote for Mizuno blades. I’ve loved a set of MP 14s for about 20 years despite having used other (newer) sets in between. (I have a set of 221s on order).  Like many other posters here I loved my Ping eye 2s that were stolen when I was in HS. Honorable mention for a great set of 73 Hogan blades my dad used on mini tours that I cut my teeth on in the mid-90a before acquiring a great set of used Haig Ultra Crenshaw Grind irons that forced me to learn to work the ball. The best part of all these sets has been the learning experience of a “new” set with my dad. It’s something we have shared since I picked up the game 30 years ago.

Mizuno mp5... unbeliveable feel and control. Probably best overall iron ive ever played. They just so happen to be blades.

Mizuno mp mmc20... again great feel great control. Just A touch bigger then blades but extra help built in.

Callaway xforged-mb18

Great feel great controll.

So far rogue st pro and ping i59 have been very nice.

Im talkin looks.. feel.. playability.  These are all amazing to me.

Here's my Mount Rushmore:

Ping Eye 2 - this is the godfather iron, customization, etc..

Hogan Apex/Forged - this brought on the forged club revolution, very underrated imo.

Callaway X Forged - took what Hogan did and just made it better, too bad no longer legal.

Finally a Mizuno iron - not sure which one, but there are some iconic. MP-14, MP-33, that's a whole other conversation.

I really, really miss the MP-53 and 63. No multi-metal, no underlay, just soft metal with a great sole grind and the best flush sound.

I've been fortunate that my income/availability/age/cost/etc. equation has worked out pretty well for these types of questions.  I have played the following:

845's in high school

Eye2's in my 20's (still have the BeCu's)

962b's in my 30's & 40's

MP32's in my 30's & 40's

I have also waivered around with S300s, X100s, PX, and Nippons, so most of these irons have had a fair shake at the title.  For me, and I mean me only, the 32's & 845's have a bit too much offset and the 962b's are a touch less forgiving than what my swing needs.  I'd play the Eye 2's until the cows came home, if they were conforming.  And, to anser 😉 the inevitable question, they do have a ton of offset.  But, for my eye 🤣, something about the sharp point used to transition the top line to the hosel on them makes the offset less impactful to my aim than other clubs.  It just is what it is for me.

If for some reason, I had to go down to only one set of clubs for the rest of my life, it would be my Eye2 BeCu 1, 3-Pw, & LW, with the LW from the Eye2+ set as well. Add in my Rogue TD & BB Mini 1.5 and any number of putters and I'd be just fine.

In fact, the lofts of my current clubs match up pretty well also, just have the "wrong" numbers on the bottom!

PS. Yes, I love my Callaway clubs that I have and they are better for me than the Eye2's when it comes to scoring better.  But, the situation where I can only have one set left for my entire life is clearly hypothetical and hyperbolic, so my decision on that set of club is as well.

@Dan Drake,

I might know a loving home for the 962b set 🤔😃

Ok, in the event that the PGA/R&A/Fred Ridley come to my house and say that I'm only allowed to play golf with one set of irons for the rest of my life, I do hereby bequeath my blended set of 962/962b's to Mitchell.

But for now, the 3, 5, 7, & 9i are making up my 1/2 set, so they ain't goin' nowhere!

I may have a “few” of that model around- just giving you a full ration, my friend. I also might know someone that influenced your decision to start using those again 😂

They are so sweet looking in both smoke and standard finish.

IMO Taylormade should just keep re-releasing these forever. If these were available right now I’m buying ‘em!

I play in PGA Section events.  Not very well, mind you, but I do swing really hard, lol!

from the mid 90’s on…I’m thinking of these sets of most cult like.  Could throw in original King Cobra for pure sales or Japanese Tourstage Z101 for niche market, but the above seemed the most predominant as far as just solid irons IMO.
