KHT Autoflex shaft

No, surprising no one had any comment on it. I just put the writing down and went with it for the callaway head and with the Titleist head it makes no difference as the shaft rotates when changing settings.

Just trying a new experiment moving this from a Ping G410 driver into a Titleist TSR2.

 

Raw ping driver heads are heavier than almost any other, good for MOI but tricky to get to the D1.5 KHT suggest at 45.75', it took a tiny 3.5g weight.

 

TSR2 starts a bit lighter, the adapter system also has a greater insertion depth. Early days yet but experiment is promising and feels a little tighter.

I just pulled the Dream7 out of my GT2 and am putting in the TPT Proto.  Tomorrow will likely be the first range session with it.   Really anxious to see how it does.  I don't play the OG AF too much any more as I was spinning it way too much in my Callaway Elyte.

Was thinking about trying out an autoflex on my ping G430 Max 10K.  Very intrigued by the potential for increased swing speed and low spin.  SS is around 105 and I have an aggressive swing (definitely would not call it smooth)

 

Going to try the SF505X and SF505XX 

 

From what i read I need to get the headweight down to about 190g so I have ordered an 11 gram weight to replace the 28g weight. 

 

Anyone on here ever done something like this?  Seems to be a mixed bag in terms of some people saying that the ping heads are too heavy for the autoflex.  

 

Advice is greatly appreciated!

I've been playing the AF since they came out. Have played the AF505, 505x, Joy 405x and the 405 in my Drivers throughout the last 5 years or so.

 

For reference when I first started playing my Driver SS was probably around 105ish. I first started, with great success with the AF505. Played it for a couple of years then got a good deal on a 505x and decided to try that for kicks. The 505 was better for me but only by a slight margin. 

 

Fast forward to this year. I am now 68 but in great physical shape, have always worked out. My Driver SS now averages around 95ish with a quick transition. Again got a good deal and bought a AF Joy365 405x. It was better overall for me than the 505 I had been playing. Then a couple of months ago picked up a 405. By far for me better than the 405x in overall distance / dispersion.

 

I cut down ( butt cut only ) the 505 and Joy 405x and put them in my fairway woods, see sig below. VERY HAPPY with the way they play.

 

So anyway. My recommendation based on your SS would be to try the AF505 first, then maybe the 505x. I wouldn't bother with the 505xx.

Hi, am presently playing my G430 Max 10K with an Autoflex 505 at 45.25 inches. Swingweight is at D3. Experimented with different backweights to bring swingweight down to the recommended D1 but find D3 more stable. 

 

I love this combo!

 

The 505X is 5 grams heavier so will bring your swingweight up to D3.5 at 45.25. D2 if you go down to 45 inches.

Well crap, my 405 snapped at the end of the grip today when I started my downswing. Bought it here from a member with great feedback so I can't send it back. I was killing that thing to, now on the look for another one.

I snapped one a few years ago but it broke almost right in the middle. Maybe that's why they say these shafts are for guys with smooth transitions. Mine is very quick at the top.

I picked up an SF505XX Rainbow back in May and the shaft has been a homerun so far. My SS is ~115, and I've been fitted across the Low/Low matrix for the last 5 years, but the results were always great or a hard left snap. With autoflex my miss is now a flat push right, which is much more playable, but introduces a new variable to my game. I have the AF in a Titleist GT3 8' with a Green weight that is D1. I've also tested the standard weight but that pushes the SW to D3. I've adjusted the hosel settings and internal weight in the GT3, but I'm curious if anyone else has had success overcoming the push-right miss. I've spent my entire golf career not trying to hit the ball left, so this is a new territory for me! Any help is greatly appreciated!

Ok our swing speeds are miles apart. Like 30 mph apart.   And I have a SF405 In R in my 9.0  GT2.  
 

my miss is pretty much the same.  My fiitter/coach calls is a gapper to RC.  Je’s a former college BB player 😬 But it’s totally playable on all but the tightest holes or in case of a sharp dogleg left.  
 

normal fligjt is straight to a 5 yard fade.   Not sure that’s relative to you.  But both AF and Titleist heads.  It’s been the main driver in my bag for over a yesr now.   That’s saying something!’

Pulled the trigger on a Golfworks swingweight scale and with the standard red 8g I'm at D2.5 and with the 4g green I'm at D0. When hitting the D0, the club feels hollow, but the shaft seems happier. I need to get it on the launch monitor to get numbers on if the poor feel equals poor resutls. Next step is to add some lead tape to the Green setup to get it closer to dumina's recommended D1.5. Will report back once I have numbers!
