Just cancelled my Wilson Blade order

Glad you found something you like and probably saved some coin. Wilson has always made solid irons and the new stuff, while not flashy and advertised very much, is really solid and can compete with anyone.

I bought a set off the BST on a whim, they knocked everything out of my bag. I just sold my z-forged/785 combo, a set of 919 hmp’s and a set of 919 tours. I love my set, can’t wait to see the next gen when released. I do however feel that they actually go quite a long way for the lofts, as long as my hot metal pro’s.

Swapped out blades for shovels... Turn in your WRX members card and exit stage left... Lol I jest.

The Wilson Staff blades look absolute magic, so many blades so little time.

Hope you enjoy your new clubs, you will have to change your avatar now.

I was actually surprised how compact the V6's are. I had never really paid much attention to them.

is it true what some guys say about the Staff blade about having a slightly longer blade length than say a Titleist MB or Apex MB?

not a bad thing, but just curious if this true.

It's true.  Same could be said about the FG Tour 100's that preceded them

I have the blades but the V6’s are truly an outstanding iron. Like you mention feel is great and love the traditional lofts. They are still one of the top CB’s out there

If my business stays strong I'll still get another set of the blades next year. They are a special iron.

Great clubs, my dad plays the v4s after not changing irons since he bought his 84 apex pc's new in 85. Got them off the shelf at golf town on clearance for 349.99 4-GW with r300s. Great looking and feeling set, classic wilson styling, great irons.

What iron would you compare the v6 to in today’s market?

That's hard to say as I haven't hit most. Feel is very much like a Srixon 785 but more compact. I haven't hit anything else new that's comparable. The PW is 47 degrees of loft. The whole set is weak lofted. They are miles away from all the distance irons on the market today. Wilson engineers did a brilliant job of putting the tungsten weighting in all the right places. I've never in over 30 years of playing hit long and mid irons like I hit these things.

I haven't seen a Wilson Iron in years. Our local Golf Galaxy doesn't carry Wilson, Srixon, or really any of the lesser brands. I'm not sure if they even stock Cobra irons. Also, when I say lesser, I mean less popular, not lower quality.

Congratulations on your V6s!  Wilson are so underrated when it comes to their player's clubs.  That is a shame.  They should be talked in the same breath as Mizuno, Taylormade, Ping, and Titleist.

Wilson has solidified it's place in my bag for Irons, I played the original, V2, V4 and now V6. I'll tinker with other parts of my bag, but Wilson (thus far) is a constant for my irons.

I actually have the new Staff Model wedges as well, and they are pretty good too. Looking forward to see what the replacement for the V6 will be, hard to improve on that iron.

Wilson stuff is woefully underrated.  The new wedges are great. The PMP wedges were great.    The c300 was a very good iron , V4 has a following and as you’ve found the V6 is sublime. Awesome to hear about someone finding “ the setup” that works.  That moment when you find it is a great feeling.

W/S distribution has been a problem for a while. I haven't had any trouble finding their clubs in smaller or more regional stores/chains, but I've never seen them at a place like Dick's, for instance. I don't mind driving 40 mins to try out some new irons, but I think a lot of "average" golfers tend to ignore W/S because they can't walk into a big box store in their town and see them on the shelf. It's too bad.

So I bought a new set of Wilson Staff blades last winter and I played them this whole season. I frickin' love those things! At 68 years old I decided I'd sell them and order a new set only with regular flex shafts. So I sold them last week and ordered new ones. In the meantime I found a really nice looking set of the Wilson V6's on the bay. 3-GW regular flex. So I bought them thinking they'd be fun to play with while I was waiting for my new Staff's. Well, I got them today and Holy Crap! What a iron. They definitely aren't a distance iron but I knew they were really weak lofted by today's standards when I bought them. These things are every bit as soft feeling as any Mizuno I've ever played. The biggest surprise was the fact that I can actually hit the long irons with absolutely no issues at all! The ball flight is perfect with the V6's. The entire set looked almost like new. I don't think the guy ever hit the 3-5 and the GW still had the original plastic on it. I understand a 180 yard 3 iron is nothing on WRX but since I haven't even tried to play 3 and 4 irons for probably 15 years I was damn near giddy when I hit the green from that distance. Anyway, I cancelled my blade order for now. The V6's are now planted firmly in my bag !

A friend of mine, in former state, is also a senior (like me) and he picked up a set of those exact irons and loves them.  People who played stiff shafts when they were younger tend to think it is a sign of weakness to go to a regular flex as they get older.  You will enjoy golf a lot more if you are realistic about the distances and feel you are  getting from your golf clubs.  Like you, I am going softer in my irons.  It is a great feeling to sense your clubs are working for and not against you.

have to agree on wilson.. one of my first real set of irons was the DI5 back in the days.  Was really impressed by how they played. Like many here, dont seem to be able to try newer set . Available online but to be able to try them , hard to find.2 weeks ago, tried the set of a frind.. an old wilson fat shaft tour or something like that .. man , they felt great.. wilson is always pass over but its a mistake to forget about them
