Need help understanding Nippon Modus lineup

I know, I know search feature is my friend.  I have used it and I have been reading incessantly and I am more confused than anything else.  I'm trying to understand which profile is likely the best fit for me and yes I'm going to try to get fit with them but not all dealers have the full line.  I'm currently playing JPX 900 Forged irons I love and they have the Project X (not LZ) 6.0's and they've been a good fit for ball flight, spin, and consistency.  My only problem is I would like something just feels a little better and doesn't tend to "rattle the bones" when not hitting it well.  Everything I've read has said the Nippon Modus is the way to go.  I'm just trying to understand should I be looking at the 120's, the 125's, or the 130's?  Also, I'm assuming X?

My understanding is the Modus 130 is closest to the Project X shaft.  Matthew Wolff had the 130x and went to the Project X 6.5 at some point this summer.  I can't comment on if you would need the X or the S for you.  I've never been able to spin the Project X enough in longer irons, so I've never played them for a long period of time.  

 

I switched from the DGTI s400 in my irons to the Modus 125s, and performance is very similar with the Modus being easier to load for me.  

 

My buddy switched from the X100 into the Modus 120x this summer and is doing well with them from what he's told me.

Seconding the comment above the 130 is supposed to be the closest to the ProjectX.

 

I have played both the 130s and the 120s. 120s are currently in the gamers, 130s are in the backups. Honestly, I could play either. Feel on both is the smoothest you'll get in steel.

 

If you are looking for extra tip stiffness the 120s are the way to go. I'm really liking the control I get with them.

 

If you're playing 6.0 in the PX you could probably go with S in the Modus. I'd get one shaft of each the 120 and 130 and put them in a 7i or 8i and give them a try to make sure you like the feel/flight.

Went from px 6.0 to Nippon 130s. The Nippons are quite comparable but a little smoother. Nippon 120 feel way softer, I would probably do better with 120x.

Just mirroring most of the comments already given with a few minor additions.  As stated, the Modus 130's are the closest match, but be careful with the flex as they play stiffer than most of the Modus line.  You may do better with some soft or hard stepping depending on your numbers.  The other thing I'll mention is your comment on the harsh feeling of your current Project X 6.0.  Most players who experience any significant "bone rattling" with PX were in actuality not fit properly.  The Project X requires a very specific type of loading and if you're not the right fit for that profile one of the first indications is that harsh sensation.  Last but not least, I know you're looking at Modus but you might also want to consider C-Taper in either 125 or 130.  That's a much closer match to Project X and can prove much less harsh as well.

FWIW, I’m playing the 120 in stiff and they could not fit me better. I came from the PX 5.5’s and the 120 feels softer/smoother. I imagine the 120 stiff is going to be a LARGE difference to the 6.0’s.
