Release: More ulnar deviation or wrist flexion?

Curious what thoughts are on the release and how much of it is wrist flexion of the trail hand versus ulnar deviation of both. Welcome any discussion and would be great to hear thoughts from @MonteScheinblum and @iteachgolf

Best explantation of entire shoulder/ arm/wrist movement in elite swings, am swings including drills etc.  lead and trail.   on Tyler pay site but can take a 7 day free trial and watch as many of his 1000 videos as you can etc. it is a presentation he gave to world golf fitness in 2018.  About 50 minutes long.

Both.  Some need to feel one, some need to feel the other, some need to feel both.

UD is from between P4 and 4.5 on, trail wrist flex is from P6 on.

Monte was mentioned in golf digest about the feeling of showing your watch to someone. Im assuming it means wrist flexion at top of swing and hold position until release. Anyone seen his drill or read discussion on that.

I don't think you want to hold anything either way...I'm not a pro though but holding would most likely lead to dragging the handle past the ball which would leave the face open.

Both, but happens on its own accord in a good swing.    If you're hitting from the inside and club is exiting low and left a lot of good things are happening.

Agreed, but nearly 100% of people don’t do it right, they need to know what it is.

Reason I'm asking is that I am currently fighting slight pulls with irons and big overdraws with driver. Given that driver starts generally straight before departing off planet to the left, wondering if I am having too much trail hand/wrist flexion that's squaring the face with a path that's too in-to-out. 

 

Of course video is the only way to tell/diagnose...just trying to think about it deliberately.

I went down this road and many others in my attempt to have my arms and hands connected and get a good wrist c0ck at the top but it was very inconsistent. I just very recently realized it will never work for me if I don't have my feet and legs actively involved in the takeaway for some reason. I also learned that the left hand just needs to grip the club sufficiently to control it taking back and it will get into a good position. I think doing the 3 to 9 drill starting with the hands in a forward press position is a good way to feel the proper mechanics. If you get to 3 oclock and can hit 3/4 of your full shot distance then you are getting things where they should be - at least based on my experience. The 3 to 9 drill is how I warm up and hit my short irons, I'll never go back to a full swing for anything less than a 5 because they go very straight and long enough.

Quick suggestion for you, without going into minutiae about positions, can be practicing in brisk right to left winds.    Nature is a pretty good teacher.
