European Tour - Ongoing tournament *Spoiler*

Last week’s Swiss tournament, great as every year, seems always to produce an exciting finish. On top of the great views and the great layout of the Crans-sur-sierre course.

The Italian Open is a little more of a mixed bag. The year they played on the Garda course was great. But sometimes the Tournament is played on courses not so exciting. This years course, a new watching experience for me. Good field.

Anyone with local knowledge on the course? Any picks for a winner?

Took a quick glance at the Rome course fast forwarding to follow Mollywood pairing the last 5-6 holes, and I quite liked what I see. Holes distinctive and decently funny to watch layout wise. Suppose the surroundings are typical Lazio countryside, never really left Rome city center. Hope they move the tee box to make 16 drivable or the wind gets right.

So the Højgaard twins won back to back tournaments on the European Tour. Rasmus last week in Switzerland and Nicolai today in Rome! Most, at least in Denmark, knew that they were future Tour winners, Rasmus already won 3 times at the age of 20, but to have twins win 2 weeks in succession is historical and pretty awesome!

First win on a major tour for a countryman in a looong time. Long awaited!  The best years are behind us, so a tour win is a big thing now. That final round was not pretty from Broberg. But he got the job done.

That chip in save for bogey was amazing.

Matthias Schmid is just smooth power.

Injuries and private life issues.

Don't let Ferguson see this.

I was torn watching that on record.  It was great to see him winning again, but part of me wanted a competition, and not a procession.  I have no idea what he was thinking on that par 5.  That could have been an 8 very easily.

Rahm +6

I’ve only seen two of his tee shots on todays coverage and they’ve both ended up with the driver sitting on the ground of the tee. Not having a great day.

Seeing Valderrama on TV is always great. Brings back memories of watching my first Ryder Cup and playing the VHS that I had of it as well.

No they couldn't. You would be lucky to get 10000 spectators round Valderrama and it would be over 100 degrees in July. I was fortunate to play it 1994 and it is a beast of a course but hasn't got the space.

I would go even 100* if they had

Octopus 🐙 and sardines at the snack stands! And some dry vino. Or grappa or whatever moonshine they got in Spain.

And chorizo! And those flamenco dancers!

Be most dope British Open ever 😃

Update at Valderrama. Brit Laurie Canter  at -7, Matt Fitzpatrick at -4, and USA David Lipsky at -3.  That will be the final 3 ball on Sunday.

Canter has not won a Euro tour event so may be liable to nerves as he seeks his first trophy. Fitz has a good career record both as winner of USA Amateur, and pro winner numerous times. Lipsky has won a few times on the Asian tour and Euro tour so also brings more experience to the final day, compared to Canter.

No weather issues forecast for Sunday in Andalucia. But the greens will be firmer, the pins in odd places and the cork trees ever overhanging the fairways.  I'm picking Lipsky to win in a playoff with Fitz.

On the TV the course looks terrific and not so easy.  Bu at least when amongst the cork trees the ball can be played; no leaves or high grass.  It's the big limbs which stretch out from the bole which causes the trouble for golfers.

Yeah, the course is playing tough, awesome viewing. Also, Rahm with a shocking first 2 rounds. The guy must be itching to take some time off.

The best hair in the game is tied for second and only one shot back. Has basically come out of nowhere

Edit: scratch that
