I’ve definitely gotten better at controlling the urge to pull the trigger over the last couple of months though.

 

The biggest factors are:

 

1) I have equipment now that better fits my game than I did in the past, so less motivation to switch.

 

2) The used equipment market has slowed down dramatically over the last few months where I am (East Coast of Canada).

 

Used to be able to sell stuff quickly and easily, but a lot more stuff is sitting listed for sale for much longer periods now (due to a number of factors I’m sure).

Pretty good so far.

 

I’ve played 2 rounds, and have another one booked for Thursday.

 

Just knocking off the rust and working on getting my touch back, but it’ll come soon.

Just a quick ball update.

 

I know everyone on WRX who follows my thread wants me to play a ball other than the Noodle Long & Soft, Lol!

 

The only ball I tested last year that I thought performed better for me, after extensive testing, was the TM Tour Response. But it wasn’t really that much better when comparing the cost.

 

I tried one of these Titleist Tour Soft balls for a few holes during my last round, and I really liked the initial results. The control was better and it was flying straighter and longer. So of course I picked up a box and will be testing these over the next couple of weeks. We’ll see if they can officially kick the Noodles out of my bag!

I'm just posting here to say you haven't complimented me on my Mizuno blades yet. Cmon Bro. I buy these just for the likes. 

 

I'm a big fan of the new Bridgestone balls this year

 

I think i may use the B-XS as my ball (it's the higher spin tour ball). Fits what i need really well.

Real life has been hectic the last couple of months with looking at some career changes. I’ll check out the new Blades today for sure! 😎👌🏽

 

For me personally, I haven’t had much success with Bridgestone balls, but the only ones I tried were the lower end ones, e6 and e12.

I would never do that but there are people who moderate the board and see EVERYTHING! You never know how they’re going to react to a member that just isn’t 100% invested in the forums.

What’s up Everybody!

 

Interesting experience this past weekend. I was down in Boston for a Basketball Tournament with my son, and got a chance to go to the Mall and Dick’s Sporting Goods while I was down there.

 

Wish I could’ve gone to Golf Galaxy, or a Golf specific store. But the moral of the story with this post was that I was extremely disappointed.

 

I thought prices would have been cheaper than what we have in Canada, and that there would be a bigger variety of clubs, shoes, bags, accessories etc. But it was the EXACT same stuff we have in Canada, the EXACT same colours, and the EXACT same prices once you add the exchange rate.

 

So all I bought while I was down there were some shoes at a Nike Outlet. Couldn’t believe how much all the prices have increased down there since I lived in the States (2010-15).

 

Just a letdown post, and that I feel for all you guys in the States. I guess inflation is kicking all our asses in North America much more than I ever would’ve expected.

Dicks is a bad example for that, PGA Super Store is better for clothing option from my experience. But the US has an advantage with brands that we don't have in Canada which when I was in Arizona a few weeks ago I went to a few shops to try on clothing from a few brands I'll order from since they're not in Canada except at some private clubs.

Wish you would have messaged me, I could have pointed you towards good shops near Boston. Dick’s sucks and you’re right about the prices, they’re out of control. Hope you enjoyed your time here though!

I’ve got about 10 rounds in this year. Putting has been phenomenal and has saved me so many times. Long game has been shaky due to swing changes, lower back tightness with cold weather and equipment setup

 

I’m about to order the AI smoke triple diamond driver to see if that does anything

@MattM97 @jrdubbb @MikeW2 Ah Ok, good to know about Dick’s and Golf Galaxy. Next time I make a trip to the States I’ll find a PGA Superstore, or other options in the area.

 

Unfortunately it was a very quick trip to the Boston area (Westford), and only had time for 1 quick shopping trip to the Mall.

Makes sense, it’s definitely still very early in the season, and lots of time to get it figured out.

 

Back issues are brutal for sure. My main Golfing buddy has been dealing with major back issues for about a year now and it just won’t go away unfortunately.

Sooooo, I may have pulled the trigger last night on some goodies for my first equipment change of the season, Lol. 🤷🏽‍♂️

 

I always have the best intentions, but after 4 rounds, I’m seeing some performance trends with certain equipment that needs to be addressed ASAP.

I hit the Darkspeed driver today but it didn't do anything my TSR2 couldn't. I wanted to buy it but just couldn't bring myself to do it.

 

You should try and get the new 3D printed Cobra irons. If they had lefties i'd have jumped all over them.

 

You get to be 1 of 500 people or so who get to experience them

You know I like cliffhangers man…that’s part of the BallerNate WITB experience, Lol!!

 

What I’ll say is that the performance issues that I’m having are with the ZX5 short irons. Not a fan of the turf interaction, and especially dislike them on partial swings.

 

I think it’s a combination of the thickness of the soles, the V-Soles, and too much bounce.

 

Whatever it is, I can’t wait to get them out of the bag, Lol.

Another update on the search for the perfect ball.

 

These are the current balls that I started testing today. Put these in play on Hole #8 of my round today and saw immediate positive results.

 

Should come down to these or the Titleist Tour Soft for which will be my go-to balls, although I’ll probably pick up a box of TM Tour Response also to see how they compare, since I haven’t tested those since last season.

 

I can finally say that I’m at the point that I do see the difference between these balls and the Noodle Long & Soft, although the Noodles are still solid for what they are.

Got a couple dozen of these for Father’s Day a couple of years ago. Found them to be a good ball.

Yeah, I think these TruFeel balls are the front-runners for me right now.

 

I thought they were comparable to the Titleist Tour Soft, and TM Tour Response in terms of distance, control, and feel, so the fact that they’re about half the price is a bonus.

 

We’ll see with more testing, but ideally I’d like to have a go-to ball figured out in the next couple of weeks.

I'm here today to open up and talk about an important topic.

 

This topic that I've learned about over the last 3-4 years getting into Golf and learning about equipment is something I call, "the WRX'er ick".

 

Right now I've got the WRX'er ick towards my Srixon ZX5 short irons (8-PW), and it's so bad right now that I decided not to play or practice this week even though it's the most beautiful weather we've had so far this season.

 

I absolutely hate the turf interaction, the width of the soles, the high bounce, and the pronounced V-sole, and I can't kick them out of the bag fast enough.

 

I've had ick like this with other clubs before, and I've learned that when it's this bad, there's no point even trying to use those clubs because it will sabotage any chance of using them effectively.

 

I put in an order for clubs to replace them 2 weeks ago, and I'm just hoping they get here soon before I miss multiple weeks of the season. 

 

Just being honest and speaking from the heart... 🤣🙃
