Bahahaha….you crack me up Mike!!

Honestly, the Hoofer is a super well-built, very practical bag. But with all the branding on it, my crazy WRX mind was already feeling pressure to buy PING clubs to go with the bag, Lol.

The Links Legend branding is much more understated, I play Titleist balls sometimes, and I’m more likely to buy Titleist clubs from time to time than PING. I know…I’m nuts, but aren’t we all, Lol?

Not nuts, committed to perfection 😂…at least that’s what I tell myself. I played one bag for close to 25 years, a Ping with no dividers, the first iteration that had double straps to show how old it is. Thing still works fine as I’m 99% sure it’s indestructible. Wanted something new and in the last 5 years I’ve probably had 40 different bags trying to find one that’s just right.

Indeed...."committed to perfection"...that sounds much better, Lol!!

Yeah, it's a slippery slope once you have specific specs, looks, and features in mind. But once we find it, it will be a beautiful thing!!

Good news for everyone who wanted me to stop using Noodle balls, Lol.

I’ve been testing out different balls during simulator time this Winter, and yesterday was a revelation!

One of my buddies pulled a TP5x out of his bag yesterday, and I tested it out during a 3-hour round with most clubs in the bag. It was love at first swing…incredible feel with all clubs, tight dispersion, lots of spin and feel with the close shots, and maybe the best sound coming off of clubs I’ve ever heard!

The TM/Golf Town sale of Buy 3, Get 1 free made the cost per box much more manageable, so I’m All-In on giving these a shot!

IMG_4316.jpeg

The current TP5X balls are wicked good, not sure why I'm trying to find something to beat them, just the sicko in me.

Hahaha…hey man, you know I get it, Lol!

Yeah, I had written off Tour balls because I had never tried one that I liked the feel of. They were usually too hard, and too low spin and low launch for me.

But the TP5x seems like they’ve got some magic sauce in them for sure. Only tried them yesterday on the Sim, so don’t want to get ahead of myself…but initial impressions are that they could be a special combination of distance, dispersion, feel, spin, and sound…we’ll see!

The funny thing is the TP5X is on the harder side but as long as you like it that's all that matters and hopefully it performs. Should see lots of difference around the greens now.

They’re definitely harder than the “Soft” balls that I usually gravitate towards, but I find them much softer than other Tour balls personally.

But yeah, 100%…it’s all personal preference.

My favourite part about them is the sound, and the feel…like angels singing, Lol!

How those compare to the proV1x?

The only Pro V1x that I’ve ever played were ones that I picked up in the forest at the golf course, so that’s not really a fair evaluation, Lol.

I’ve always just found the Pro V1 and Pro V1x’s that I’ve played were too hard for my liking, but I’ve never actually bought a box and really given them a fair shot honestly.

I tell her about what I need to, but Golf balls are very easy to sneak in to the house, Lol.

And yes, my main go-to balls over the last 3 years have been the Noodle Long & Soft, Titleist TruFeel, and dabbled with the TM Tour Response as well.

I’ve tested almost ever ball at one time or another though…it’s definitely been a long journey to try and find the best fit, just like my equipment search.

Like you nate, I generally gravitate towards softer balls. I've tested a lot of balls too, and I seem to have found one that's a go-to at the very least. I also think noodles get a little bit of a bad rep.

I know what you mean, I have found a ball that I like a lot, yet I can't help but wonder "is it REALLY the best ball for me? Am I paying more than I need to, would going with the 2 piece model 1 step below be better?"

Then I go and find stuff on clearance and maybe even stock up on those. I need to use up the balls that I don't really care about and then go from there.

Yeah, Noodle's are very underrated and solid balls for sure.

Feels good to have a game plan going into the season, and not be constantly searching for answers.

I'll have the TP5x as my go-to ball, and then for rounds in poor conditions in the Spring/Fall (or high-risk water holes), I'll have Noodles, or TM RBZ in the bag as back-ups.

That's the plan anyway, Lol.

I don't think the step down would work for me, I say that as a mid handicap but baby got speed and I can't be sailing and bouncing off greens.

I've had 3 different balls last year all crack on the dimples after I hit them... so I am amazed that isn't happening with people who can actually hit the ball well.

Noodles, Decathalon 100s, and Vice Drive all would have a crack around the edge of the dimples after a few holes so they've been donated to my girl friend.

Never thought I would buy a PING bag, and never understood what all the hype was about.

That was until I took a closer look at this Hoofer today at my Golf shop, and was blown away by the attention to detail, functionality, and build quality!

I’ve been researching bags over the last month or so, and this one checked the most boxes by far! Only other bag that checks as many boxes was the Vessel Player V Pro, but at $695 + tax, I just couldn’t justify it.

Spring can’t get here soon enough!!! 😎🏽

Just picked up a 2025 Hoofer myself to go alongside my titliest linkslegend bag. That black looks good. I went with the red, white, and navy blue.

I just walked 18 with it yesterday, and didn't notice the club tangle being any worse than other bags I've used. Loving the amount of pockets and weight (compared to my titliest bag).

Bahaha…no faith that a Club Ho like me can reform eh? 🤣🤣

Honestly, that’s the reason I set this goal though. Over the Winter I definitely recognized that I’m actually addicted to buying Golf equipment. And the only way I know how to battle an addiction is to go cold-turkey.

Obviously an addiction to hunting for and buying Golf equipment is a lot less destructive than other addictions I’ve had and conquered in my life, but it’s an addiction nonetheless.

Been in the game 25 years bro, I have been where you are 🙂 I have never done actual drugs but I do believe I would be less addicted to them, and they'd be cheaper 😄

The only way to not buy equipment is to log off golfwrx, and all other social media platforms for that fact. Do not visit any golf stores. And just go play golf. Just remember, when walking into the pro shop to pay for your round.... walk straight to the counter, pay, and walk straight back out the door. Do not look at the putters or wedges or drivers sitting by the counter.

All jokes aside. Getting down to a single digit is a great goal. Enjoy the journey. My best advise is to always chose the shot that has the highest probability of success based off your current skill level. And practice putting and green reading as much as you possibly can. You'll be down to single digits in no time....

Bahaha!! Yeah, I definitely spent less money on drugs, but I also a lot broker back then, so it was probably ends up being about an equal ratio of Income to addiction, Lol. 😬😂
