No he's referring to the video of them fitting Lindsey into an  M4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MutKf_EwgIg she was playing an R9 that had been fit. I believe it was 8 or 9 years old.

Yes! I didn’t even mention they do it all without doing that much clickbait. They do have some gimmicky titles from time to time, but it doesn’t seem to take away from the actual video when you get into it. I’m so thankful they exist.

Agreed.  Their most watched video BY FAR is the Tiger unboxing, so I hope they don't get seduced by the money....

I have been fitted there twice now.  Once with Ian shortly after they opened and a couple years ago with Cam.  Great team all around. I am scheduled for a full bag fit in March...and I don't even think I need to change a lot, I am just willing to pay the money for a check up and comparison to see if I am missing anything!

They do a great job getting deeper than everyone else, whether that means looking at dynamic loft / lie / droop - or quantifying mysteries like tipping.

They're a *little* too easy on some brands which they have relationships with, but I can't really blame them for that.  They also don't test things like Miura, PXG, Honma, Wilson, etc. very frequently - which is ok - but I wouldn't mind seeing a little more agnostic-ness from them on that front.

They also haven't done the Auto Flex vs Ventus Red R2 flex - both as long as possible test - which I've wanted for quite a while - but my fingers are still crossed.  😄

Overall - my favorite YT channel.

I don't recall them ever playing favourites with any brand...in fact I would say the opposite in that they are generally favourable to all brands. Interestingly whenever they talk about "old" clubs, ones that are not in the shop anymore, that is when you hear Ian say his tru thoughts on them, but only as it applied to him. They genuinely seem supportive of any brand they carry as long as it is right for the client.

Also, just recently they mentioned that PXG is not responsive to them or interacting and seemingly going all in on direct to consumer. Honma, Miura and Wilson also have a much smaller offering and long times between product release...just my 2 cents on why those brands don't get addressed much. New video this week on Honma BTW!

Nah they got superchat for that. Whenever they do a live the superchats are ringing the register. They also sell out immediately on any merch they produce (headcovers, towels, shirts). The only affiliate relationship I'm aware of is G4. All others are donated or in the cases of Galvin Green, Ian is a staffer and retailer. To show their care for the community, they've mostly stopped the superchats bc it was the same people spending $£€ and the average fan couldn't ask questions. I have loads of respect for these guys. I'm not their #1 fan, that's probably Bandit, but I'm a pretty big one.

I think they are the best on the internet. My only complaint is, I wish they had another tester they could occasionally use other than Matt. Nothing against Matt but he is so good and so consistent that a lot of the testing is neutralized because of how good he is.

it would be nice if they had a mid handicap with 100 mph swing speed or something they could throw in there occasionally just to see the testing from another perspective.

All that said, they are fantastic

They used to do a lot of this...suspect pandemic has prevented it and we are "stuck" with Matty Boy....

I hope so.  On the far end, Rick Shiels is doing $15k+ per month when TXG is est. at $3k/month.  If they start seriously doing online fittings, they will blow that Rick Shiels money out of the water. Which is probably the long game for sure.

The thing that's cool as hell is if you purchase through them, they'll look at your Arccos data to see how the clubs perform on the course and either adjust if you're local or tell you how to adjust. I wish they'd open a NYC metro location.

They do have a relationship with Arccos as well, I believe they are Arccos' Canadian distributor or something along those lines.

Seems like the first logical place in the US to go. I grew up on Union County, NJ golf courses so a fitting would cost 2 years of county card fees. Ha.

There is a video about a year ago where Matt was lamenting that video....but it has bee surpassed by a couple others now thankfully!

They did a podcast episode with Rick Shiels (worlds collide!) where they talk about how embarrassing it is for their worst video (in their words) to be their most popular. So I agree that TXG is definitely not going down that road.

Big fan of the channel.

Ian is extremely knowledgable and Matt does a great job on testing and production. Both seem really down to earth normal guys too.

Would like to see them up the podcast part. I’m one of the people that enjoys the tech deep dives. I know they need a balance as not everyone enjoys that piece.

It's a special treat when they have people like Chris Voshall and Paul Hurrion. If you like golf podcasts, On the Mark with Mark Immelman is great. The guests he gets are incredible.

@ReidThompsonThanks for sharing this, really enjoyed the video!

p/s: Lindsay Knowlton’s swing = incredible...
I think she’d be amazing as a recurring guest (or regular) on the TXG channel, to better-represent the “average swing speed” tester!
(Vs Matt’s 120+ mph club head speed!)

Agreed.  It doesn't really matter what driver.  312 Carry, 327-340 total.  They have in the past brought in an aspiring LPGA girl and "Ron" and a guy on staff who is a 105 mph guy.  But if they put a camera in bay and let us watch all fittings, I would just watch it til 3 in the morning.

Reid - love this thread - I've learned SO much over the last 2-years watching the fellas from Toronto. That said, I can't believe you're not also consistently flirting with 350yrds every time you step on the tee... 😉

I can't say how many workdays I find myself becoming mesmerized by Iron Matty's stripe show coupled by their sassy audio track! Has for sure been one of the highlight of lockdown. That all said, the Ronnie videos they've done are some of my all-time favorites.

Oh, I flirt.  She just turns me down and sends me back to 240 off the tee.

Yeah so Arccos showed that I'm weird. This is my strokes gained approach vs a scratch golfer. Wtf is wrong with me teeing off on par 3s? Scratching my head.

Sal at Arccos said he had the same issue and went to a very low or no tee and it helped.  May be catching high on face.

Their videos with Voshall literally prompted me to buy an old set of MP-14s and have them refinished & retrofitted to fit my spec. I gamed them much of the summer season and thoroughly enjoyed. My only issue with the MP-14's is that they're lofts are SO week (PW @ 50*)... I originally tried bending everything 2-3* strong to match modern blade lofts, but the effect on offset & bounce was nearly unplayable. I ultimately bent everything weak, 1-stepped the shafts, and then dropped the PW all together so I could add a 2nd 4i to my bag...

I have had this issue before.  Is it just because we dont want to hit 7 when our buddies are hitting 8? @eth4and

Thankfully I'm usually about a club longer than most of the guys I play with, but yeah; there's something a little mentally goofy about giving having to "adjust" all my stock iron yardages down 12-15yrds each. That said, my bigger issue with the setup is it that I forces me to drop the specialty 46* PW I'd otherwise play. I'm sure it's just me being anal retentive, but something feels inherently wrong about having an 8i be the highest iron in my bag! I'm also still getting used to the idea of carrying two 4i's.
