I used an L4V X with a 60X DVS very successfully for a few years and it's still in the garage. I loved the awful sound - it made everyone turn in disgust only to watch a huge bomb down the middle. So good!

 

On topic, I have hit the G425, Sim2, and the TSi2 and 3. Ended up with a TSi3, upgrading from a TS2. The same Titleist guy fitted both, about 14 months apart. I went in thinking "TSi2" but walked out with a TSi3, which was unexpected.

Hit the tsi2 vs radspeed vs xb vs sim2 vs 425max and the tsi2 was eerily straight compared to the others. Not sure there was a huge difference in distance (5 yards across the board with the same shaft) so the forgiveness and stability of the tsi2 won, even though I've never owned anything titleist

But that Cobra L4V was one of the GOAT’s IMO but the sound was unmistakeable.

Hit a G425 Max demo at my club outside Friday.  I have never owned a Ping driver before and I have a fitting scheduled with the Ping rep outside with monitor on 4/7.  I was anxious to hit one, so grabbed one off the rack.  It was a 10.5 with Alta R shaft.  They did not have a stiff laying around.  My guess would be I would get a 9 with maybe the Ping tour shaft in stiff?

Anyway, I have never hit a driver this high before.  Honestly, I am talking REALLY high.  It did feel fine and I am sure with the right shaft their rep can find me the ball flight I want.

I have always said I could not care less about sound but I see why it is getting mentioned.  I could probably live with it, but I found it very loud, and very high pitched.  Maybe a metallic ping is a decent description.  It did seem forgiving.

If I can get best numbers from my scheduled fitting I will buy, but the sound is my least favorite of all I have hit this year.

I do think the Ping colors are much better this year...pretty classy.

Fairly underwhelmed by G425.  I feel like 410 may even be better?  
 

SIM2 was pretty good.  Spun a few hundred RPM less than G425.  Felt and sounded a little better to me.  I could play and enjoy this one but I would miss tinkering with the adjustability. 
 

Tsi3.  Whoa nelly.  Head and shoulders above the rest in all categories.  I don’t put a ton of faith in retailer launch monitors.... but on the same bay unit I was seeing more favorable launch and lower spin (around 1900-2200 on average for me).  Looks and feels great.  Hype seems to be earned.  I’ve been playing golf since the early 90s and I can’t recall ever having a Titleist driver. 

Wasn't particularly interested in and didn’t swing the Callaway or Cobra stuff. 

 

Tsi3 > my 410 LST > SIM2 > G425LST

This didn’t age particularly well.  My cup of coffee with the TSI3 ends. 
 

Within guarantee period exchange for the Radspeed.  Just an awesome blend of low spin / higher forgiveness.   It’s like a G410lst and TSi4 hybrid - or what I had hoped / expected G425 to be. 
 

Don’t sleep on the Cobra!
