This is my latest progress check at the nd of my 7th program.  Weird that CHS with driver stayed the same, 195g was down and everything else was up?!?!

Stack.jpg

119 is pretty high end for driver. I just wonder if you are tapped out fully for speed.

Yes I was thinking the same myself, it can't just keep going up indefinitely right?!  Also the 119 is flat out where I'd probably miss the ball if there was one there, I'd say my on-course is more in the 112 region.

Just hit the halfway point for Neural Drive (completed session 12 of 24) and my speed is trending in the right direction. I cracked into the 130mph range with a few of the lighter weights recently which was really fun and motivating as that had been a personal goal to see 130 on the display. 195g training speeds are creeping up as well which is fun as I hit an all time high of 118mph compared to my max intent baseline of about 112mph prior. In general I am very happy with the progress, but mostly because I do a workout (Fit For Golf) before I Stack so it is helping me get into better shape. image.png.ab46e7abe48dffd205d612b5e7bb3688.png

On course results are really starting to show. My course has been incredibly soft (rain and maintenance) so we have been seeing “carry” distances with ball pitch marks and plugs. Those numbers are correlating nicely to the predicted values on Stack and what I am seeing on the range with a monitor.

Which fit for golf program are you doing?

Currently on the third week of the Home Based Velocity program. Prior to that I did the home based bands program.

Workouts are generally pretty quick (30-45 mins) so I can do them before work or during lunch which is nice for me since I have no desire to workout after a day of work.

I’m hoping they keep putting, wedge, and speed all in the same annual subscription. I really think having wedge adds some nice incremental value to the subscription.

figured I’d share a referral code for $50 off if anybody wants to save some $$.

Typical stack schedule has been 2x during week and once during weekend with 1 day gap in between sessions. Lifting weifhts 3x/week on non-stack days. Got busy and took 5 days off between sessions (still lifting weights) and felt like my speed was higher than it has ever been yet. May need to try and space the sessions out more but trying to get this program done before a golf trip mid-April.

Oh are you not rolling the recommended days between session that the app states? Mine have mostly been every 72-96 hours between. I can’t imagine doing these every 48 hrs. I’d be so gassed. I too lift three days a week like you.

I probably should, but am trying to get this program completed before a golf trip mid-April. Typical schedule right now is lift MWF, Stack Tu/Th, & either sat or sunday and play 18 sat & sunday. This way I lift 3x/week, stack 3x/week, and play two rounds every weekend.

Sometimes I lift Su/Tu/Th and will Stack M/W/Fri or Sat. But basically the same routine.

Got it and understand your logic. Just be careful as to me that sounds like an injury waiting to happen as you aren’t giving your body time to recoup as well as your brain to link up with the speed (overspeed is almost as much mental as it is physical).

with following the program (I am on my second one now). I lift m/w/f and usually one of those days in a week I have a stack session I do prior. Most weeks are 2 sessions with the occasional sun/W/sat for the stack.

good luck!

I’d recommend following the app suggestions for workouts/rests. There is a lot of evidence (both anecdotal in this thread and based on research that Sasho and others have done) that suggests the neuromuscular system, specifically fast-twitch fibers, gets extremely fatigued from speed training even if your body isn’t feeling it. I know I have tried to rush the days ahead of a work trip and saw poor results only to have a massive uptick when I returned after a week. Just my two cents..

Based off my most recent session after 5 days of not stacking, that tracks. Had my best session yet after resting. Really wanted to get this program done before this trip, but don’t want to sacrifice results or potential injuries to do so. I’ll dial it back and follow app suggested stack intervals.

You will still see results even midway through the program. You can also try the special session “Speed Priming with Balls” to help convert some of the Stack speed to on course speed. Since you are already working out a decent amount based on the previous posts, you know the importance of a proper warmup; that was the biggest thing for me in getting my speed on the course. Once I started to spend 15 minutes doing a legit warmup (I use the fit for golf one) I noticed speed was much easier to come by during the round.

When you say that you're on your "second one," are you doing FSS?

I did my first FSS program in Nov-Jan, and am now on my second FSS.  I cannot imagine doing every other day (along with lifting/gym) like some people talk about, it'd be too exhausting.  In yesterday's session, I had 16 swings at 255, 14 step swings, and 5 swings at 195.  Twice a week has been plenty for me.  TBH, even if 3 sessions/week meant another couple mph, I still don't think I'd have the energy for it.

was playing sim golf recently and my mini driver speed was reaching 112

Thanks for perspective. I have a material difference, which makes me think I’m slowing my driver swing too much in an effort for better control on the course. I have gotten my Driver eSpeed as high as 116, but on-course I’ll estimate that I have a club head speed that’s 15-20 mph slower than my espeeds. I’ve never taken the time at the range to get comfortable swinging faster, which is something I might need to do.

I am on my second program. Started with foundations and now on neural drive. Ffs is a lot of swings so even more reason to rest long between sessions

I’ve still never seen an official explanation why they changed the time between sessions from 48-72 to 72-96. For at least the first two years I had my Stack it was 48-72 and I never had any problems doing Mon, Wed, Fri.

Sasho does a lot of podcasts and has touched on it during a few that I have listened to. Basically, what I gathered is that it boiled down to they have a ton of people feeding data into their database, and the people that rested more between sets had better gains.

I am 5 sessions from finishing FSS.  The amount of reps is my biggest issue with this program as someone who has back/hip issues.  Is Neural Overdrive less reps than FSS?  I'm looking for less reps but also really think step swings are important for me. considering Flex, Neural Overdrive, and maybe even doing foundations again.

I just broke down and ordered the stack radar.  Did a pre-round primer on saturday and my ssr was reading 131-133 and decided it was time to retire it as I know i'm not that fast.  Really looking forward to trying the wedge app out.  If I get a chance i'll put the Stack Radar up against the BLP and see how they compare.  FWIW my BLP tends to slightly underestimate distances and i had a prgr that was usually way off of actual distances/speed. Hopefully this unit works a lot better than the prgr I had.

I just finished another Foundation program. It was a grind, but I picked up 5mph, from 90 to 95. Not very impressive, but I am 70 and coming off neck fusion surgery so I am pretty satisfied. But once again, the program really did a number on my mechanics and I have ingrained some very bad habits. I am working through it now, and plan to keep going with the goal of getting back to 100mph+.  This is not easy.

Per the suggestion of others I have quit my intense stack regimen of 3x/week with lifting 3x/week and began stacking on the recommended time frame. Since that time I have consistently lost speed (according to stack). That being said, I swung my driver after last nights seasion and hit 114mph at max effort so not sure what is going on there. I will say that I feel tired by the time I get to my 4 max effort 195g swings at end each of session. Feel like I could swing harder, but my body is kind of tired at that point.

Looks within the range of normal. If this is FSS, yes you’ll be tired by time you get to 195g swings.

Dumb question- I just did a Baseline test and didn't realize that I was supposed to do the first set with my driver not the 195g. I did change the numbers to my driver numbers (did 3 swings woth driver prior to starting the 2nd set and added the avg delta to my 195g numbers) before moving to the program selection screen. It recommended the "neural drive" program which based on the description (Particularly helpful for golfers whose clubhead speed fails to reach expectations relative to their level of strength. The Neural Drive program is also effective for the golfer who struggles with the concept of maximum effort swing.) doesn't seem to fit me at all - I'm 38, 6'/220, don't even lift (so i think i swing much faster than expected based on my "level of strength") cruise around 115 on the course, and feel like I have no issues going all out on a swing.

Did I jack up my baseline and make the app think I can only swing my driver 102ish despite fixing the numbers at the end and should pick a different program? Or is the fact that i feel like my course full send swing is basically 99% effort actually mean that I have untapped effort potential that the neural drive program could help unlock?

I started the stack putting yesterday.  I kind of had a a fluke performance and made most of the putts.  Its going to be difficult to beat this performance.  HAHA. (my strokes gained is set to +2 hcp)

I tried to start the stack wedge but didn't realize it was going to ask for so many shots on the baseline.  I think I also had the device too far away from the ball as it was reading a bit low on distance and missing a lot of shots.  After about 50 balls I gave up.  The problem is that I can't delete the shots now and start over.  I emailed their customer support.

Some thoughts that might help others, but to start, it works but with caveats. You can develop habits that generate speed but aren’t good on the golf course like getting arms stuck behind you and flipping at impact.

I have the Ben Hogan shirt and find it really helps generating speed while keeping arms in front of chest, more chest rotation.

Second, I put a jumbo grip on it make it near impossible to flip at impact. If you want to use your hands you have to roll them.

Third, as a safety I wear my anti flip golf glove, it also fixes my setup (hard to have shoulders open at address).

When you do speed training with different aids, it allows you to gain speed within the confines of a golf course swing.
